Sea Ice Ends Year at Same Level as 1979
www.dailytech.com
Thanks to a rapid rebound in recent months, global sea ice levels now equal those seen 29 years ago, when the year 1979 also drew to a close.
Ice levels had been tracking lower throughout much of 2008, but rapidly recovered in the last quarter. In fact, the rate of increase from September
onward is the fastest rate of change on record, either upwards or downwards.

Ah, what to believe. I can understand why the public can get so totally confused with regard to climate change. 3 months ago sites were reporting
Arctic sea ice at lowest level ever and now we
have stories like this.
The data is being reported by the University of Illinois's Arctic Climate Research Center, and is derived from satellite observations of the
Northern and Southern hemisphere polar regions.
I wonder where the global warming theorists go from here?

Al Gore bought a pause in the global warming crisis with his massive account of carbon credits in order to have the ice grow fast enough to save all
of the drowning polar bears.

I have to announce I am a sceptic about global warming scepticism.
While I have to admit it is quite unscientific to make scientific estimates about the future when the whole issue is not known at all, I at the same
time think it is very stupid to take uncertain risks while the issue is not known at all.
So at this point my sympathies are still with the global warming alarmists - if their theory is true then we are in a lot of mess if we don't take
some precautionary action.

I would have to agree with you on this one!
1979 levels are still lower than say before the big Industrial revolution. no?
Also I wonder how all those islanders who have lost their homes feel about this?

I am 100% for taking care of our environment. BUT global warming is a catchy little phrase that has made lots of people money especially Al Gore.
There is no scientific proof to this day to support this theory as we have all read countless times. In fact, even the supporters are shying away
from the term "global warming" to the less defining term of "climate change".

What I resent about the whole global warming theory is they use Carbon as a poster child. We should be tackling recycling and all forms of pollution
in total, not just one emission.
I wince every time I see carbon credits or carbon neutrality.

The cynic in me would think that they selected carbon as it's something that that is relatively easy to make money from and applies to pretty much
everything. Witness the boom in carbon credit trading, carbon reduction schemes etc etc.

EXACTLY! Global warming is a way make money by playing on people's fears and guilt! Take hybrid vehicles for example - oh they're so much better
for the environment with thier reduced greenhouse gases! But - what to do with those huge nasty batteries when they go bad? Even if recycled they
create very toxic waste. But thats not the hot topic yet.

Yup, true and who owns the largest holding company for buying/selling carbon credits???? Non other than Algore himelf! He also has a strangle hold,
along with GE on most of the Green Tech out there. Sure makes you wonder just what is the truth on climate change. My guess that histry will prove
that 90% of our climate change is do to the suns activity and NOT carbon dioxide or mankind. Its going to be tough to swallow to pay a tax on
breathing!!

I would wonder how accurate these studies of the amount of ice converage is by comparison to their thickness and melting duing the coming months.

I agree that the Climate Change issue has been used as a marketing ploy.
The number one, far and away in fact, factor of carbon emission is caused by something that mankind cannot possibly control. Weathering of rock by way
of water or wind. Nothing else even comes close. The issue is overblown as a way to control people through guilt.
Everything we put into the atmosphere comes from right here anyways. If we store up the acid to put into a battery, yes, eventually it will need to be
disposed of and becomes a problem, but otherwise, if it hadn't been stored up, it would already be a pollutant anyhow.
Face it, nothing the government tells you is truth. NOTHING.

The real problem is that our kids are constantly being brain washed about the subject. Kids are just sponges for the info and the sad truth is these
kids are starting to doubt their parents and believing everything teachers are forcing on them!

So 1979 was a high mark for ice? On what day? This summer had the North Pole with no ice for the first time ever. I haven't read your article, but
assume no mention was made of that. Siberia got to -56oC in Irkutsk a couple of years ago, but not this. It depends on amongst other things how the
continental winds blow. By the way, does your article tell us how thick the ice was?

Actually having looked at the scientific data in some depth I do believe that mankind is having an effect on the climate of the planet. What that
effect will be and the overall scope of the man made change relative to the natural cycles of the planet is something that I don't think we can
determine until it's either happened or is past the point where we can do much about it.
What I find slightly distasteful is the way that there doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm for really tackling our pollution, energy and ecological
problems yet there seems to be a boundless reserve of energy and creativity when it comes to making money from them.

Are there any pictures of an iceless North pole to be seen. If what you say is true why is it NYC isn't under water like the criers of 'Climate
Change" say it would be in a senario such as an iceless North Pole?? Makes me kind of wonder why I don't see it plastered all over the MSM!

Yes, that is sad indeed. Well, that coupled with the fact that the Government is making it illegal to homeschool your children.
It is illegal for them not to be allowed TO INDOCTRINATE YOUR CHILD!
It is almost time to beat the plows into swords.

Hmmmm, swimming in the waters at the North pole!! Dang, Global Climate Changing must have realy warmed up the ocean. Last time I heard that water is
about 30 degrees F. Must have been a cousin if a danged polar bear. Of course, the BBC isn't biased towards CC anymore than our
networks!!!
