I have also been watching this. And checking here to see if anyone who is more knowledgeable about Yellowstone had any concerns.

They might all be busy at the quake-watch thread.

It is part of the human psychosis to always ignore the elephant in the living room. Yellowstone might very well be over due for its next big eruption. But everyone just goes about their day as if it will never happen in their lifetime. Yellowstone may for all we know build up to the big eruption. This swarm of earthquake activity might be fresh lava rising up into the lava chamber. Inevitably the lava will burst to the surface and then literally all hell will break loose. It only takes a spark to get a fire burning.

Nah... even ten small earthquakes per day, might be considered a normal level for Yellowstone I guess.

As of today, I know there have been 45 Earthquakes within Yellowstone since June 23, 2013

There have been swarms there with thousands of tremors, a few small quakes isn't a concern.

Ummmm......pretty bold statement.

The reality is that no one knows. The scientist THINK they have an idea of what an eruptive phase might possibly look like, building up. However, since no one has been around (to talk about it) since the last time a super volcano (caldera) erupted, we don't know.

I think it prudent to always look a little closer whenever there is this kind of activity.

I've a feed from the USGS, and well, swarms and small swarms are common, in Yellowstone. It is when the swarms start with lots of M3-M5 that people focus a critical eye on Yellowstone.

Personally I am more concerned with swarms outside of Yellowstone.

There is one swarm I am watching in California, another near the southern end of the New Madrid Fault, and a couple that are in areas I feel are 'out of place'. Many of us have our hot spots that we pay attention to or focus on. Puterman and Muzzy spend a lot of time interpreting data and so on.

Many of us have lives and jobs outside of ATS, and that EQ / Volcano monitoring is a hobby.

Also, there is more than one sleeping giant in the room.

The Long Valley Caldera. The many faults along the West Coast, and the New Madrid Faults.
You could even add in Mt. Saint Helens and that volcanic region too.

But it is good that you are watching Yellowstone too.

Welcome to the club

True.
The Long Valley Caldera are quite active (compared to YS) with 98 quakes more or less between June 22 and June 29.

I just got back from a week at Yellowstone.

We didnt experience one earthquake that I felt.

Our first day up there was the 7th, just as the Norovirus outbreak started. Thank god nobody sneezed on us.

I did notice that Mammoth is drying up even more from when I first started going up there.

Things are definetly changing the last few years, in a slow quiet kinda way.

Got any pictures of Mammoth??

3.1 mag up there this morning, preceded and followed by several others. Certainly looking curious. NO, I am not saying it is about to erupt for those that look for an excuse to yell "fear monger!", only that it warrant our attention.

Check out this continued action!

I see that the distance between the two swarms are just around 10km - 11km (6-7miles).
I wonder if we now are going into an active period again. Not long since there was a swarm in Yellowstone Lake.

Here is the latest I got.

Yellowstone's Steamboat geyser sees rare eruption

Steamboat Geyser, in Yellowstone National Park's Norris Geyser Basin in Wyoming, erupts on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Steamboat Geyser — the world's tallest — has erupted for the first time in more than eight years. BILLINGS, Mont. - Old Faithful it's not.

Yellowstone National Park's Steamboat Geyser — the world's tallest — has erupted for the first time in more than eight years.

Park geologist Hank Heasler (HESS-ler) says Wednesday night's nine-minute blast sent steaming hot water an estimated 200 to 300 feet in the air.

Unlike Old Faithful, which spews water like clockwork every hour-and-a-half, no one knows when Steamboat will erupt next.

In the past, it's gone as long as 50 years without a major event. In 1964, it erupted a record 29 times.
Today in MSN Travel

Steamboat is one of more than 500 geysers at Yellowstone, which boasts the largest collection of hydrothermal features in the world. They're fueled by cold water seeping into a natural underground plumbing network, where heat from the park's volcano causes the periodic eruptions.

This is so wonderful. In the video, you hear the roar of nature in all her fury. Raging, and roaring as fierce as any beast or blast. This was Yellowstone's tea-kettle whistling at full blast. And, in the midst of this awesome, (i'm using the word correctly-hahaha) spectacular event, we have comic relief. Hehehehe,.

If God has a sense of humour, then our doom will be Yellowstone. Think about it. It's obvious. Millions of people go into the mouth of one of the world's largest volcano for their leisure and pleasure. Most are oblivious. To them, it's all Jellystone and Yogi bear. (Yogi Berra:"When you come to a fork in the road.... take it."

(Just so you know... I'm the best gonzo reporter ever... I double checked and Yogi Berra did say to take the fork in the road. But. He also said, " I didn't really say everything I said."

Tears are running down my cheeks.
I bang my head against the wall as I laugh.
It's almost too much too bear.

I know exactly what he meant.

. Yogi Berra is still alive. I thought he was dead. He's 88.

If you knock over the numbers in his age- you get infinity-infinity ...
