You dont abide by a truce fire and then, the day it finishes, fire barrages of rockets at Israel.

the 'reasoning' sucks.

Why on Earth would Hamas do such a stupid thing, blatantly paste itself all over the world as the aggressor here.

And look at the response,

Hamas Interior Ministry said that all security compounds in Gaza were destroyed

This stinks!

Really do you actually have and stats for this ? Or are you trying to fit a square peg into a round hole ? "to gut" Palestinian society you imply mass disappearances by referencing Stalin's Russia and Pinochets Chile.
The Americans in Iraq have probaly snatched and "disappeared" more poeple in Iraq than the Israeli's ever have - just some food for thought.

A report from Haartz regarding Israel's secret prisons. Most are underground and unknown sites. They are largely interrogation and processing centres. Questions asked are usually about the personal affairs and private lives of captured civilians. One can only think that Israel wants to have a file on all Palestinians at home and abroad. For what? Who knows?

Since the expiration of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, Hamas has launched dozens of rockets and mortars into Israel. Hamas said the attacks were in response to an Israeli incursion into Gaza. Tensions appeared to ease significantly late Thursday when Israel said it would open the Gaza border to allow shipments of humanitarian aid.

In the West Bank, the Palestinian President Mr. Abbas said in a statement that he "condemns this aggression" and calls for restraint, the AP quoted an aide, Nabil Abu Rdeneh, as saying.

Gaza residents reported hearing two waves of explosions. In the first wave, there were at least 15 blasts. Many of Hamas security compounds are in residential areas, and the air strikes took place as children were leaving school. Plumes of black smoke rose over Gaza City, sirens wailed through the streets and women frantically looked for their children

So sad Nope no peace for the region.

All the Hamas had to do was stop the rocket fire. Olmert begged them and they did nothing but escalate!

All that Israel had to do back in the 70's was to simply say "ok Palistine, we are tired of this senseless killing and back and forth attacks too, we will let you have Gaza, and recognize you as an independant state".

Thats all Israel and the world had to do, was to simply agree to what Palistine wanted 30 years ago and if they had agreed, none of this discussion or innocents beign killed on both sides would be happening today.

But dont take my word for it, read the history. Learn what it is all about from start to current and I think you will begin to see the why all of this is happening. Its not becasue of things that happend last week, or last month or even last year. It is because of things that happend 30+ years ago and has been carried over even after the leaderships on both sides changed. But the core of the conflict, the reasons on both sides, has not changed one bit...except for the innocent death toll counts.

Cheers!!!!

Missing in facts? Where? Just following news channels all round the world

Just following news channels?... or a gullible believer of anything or everything you see on those controlled media channels?

For the record, people here have provided external sources such as Israeli news and not Jihadi websites as you attempt to generalize and stereotype your way out of this issue.

The Hamas Leadership of Gaza is now reaping what they have sown. Sorry to say it, but this has been all started by Hamas's actions lately. You can only pull on a tigers tail a few times before it attacks you. Hamas's continual provoking with rocket attacks is the reason for this backlash. Israel will do what it deems necessary to defang Hamas, this will probably mean loping off the whole head to defang.

As usual, the average Palestinian will pay for the ineptness of their Leadership, if you can even call it Leadership.

IDF: Weekend strike in Gaza 'only the beginning'

Military's first assault on Hamas infrastructure in Strip ends as next step in op awaits chief of staff's orders. Defense minister declares 'special situation in the home front' in all Gaza communities

The IDF's deadly strike on the Gaza Strip, which began Saturday morning, is far from over: The IDF said that while the first wave of fire was concluded, the military has to study the strike's results before deciding on the next stage of the assault, which was launched in response to the nonstop rocket fire from the Strip at the western Negev.

IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Gabi Ashkenazi, added the statement, will be holding a security assessment to that effect during

the day.

The Prime Minister's Office confirmed that Saturday's strike was, in fact, the first step in Israel's response to Hamas' breach of the ceasefire: "Following Hamas' violations of the truce agreement and the nonstop attacks on citizens in southern Israel, a decision was made on Wednesday, December 25, by the National Security Cabinet, to instruct the Israeli Defense Forces to take action in order to stop the rocket fire and terror attacks emanating form Gaza.

"The cabinet has tasked the prime minister, foreign minister (Tzipi Livni) and defense minister (Ehud Barak) with deciding on the time and manner of the said action. Following a unanimous decision, the three have decided on the Israeli Air Force strike which took place this morning. Israel stresses that it will continue to take action against the terror attacks and rocket fire emanating form Gaza against Israeli citizens," an official statement by the PMO said.

Saturday morning's strike targeted multiple marks in Gaza, reportedly killing dozens of Palestinians. The IDF said that Israeli fighter jets struck several Hamas infrastructure targets, including its headquarters, warehouses and weapon caches.

As the IAF launched its attack, Defense Minister Ehud Barak declared the Gaza vicinity communities under a "special situation in the home front," giving security forces special jurisdiction over the area and allowing them to make municipal decision the likes of how the local schools and industries will operate.

www.ynetnews.com...

The special situation status includes all communities within a 13-mile radius of the Gaza Strip.

Thats funny, sure sounds like the same line used 30 years ago over the same issues between both. Yet at no point, even back then, did anyone say well Israel reaped what they have sowed.

Israel is FAR from being innocent here in this matter. As is Palistine. Again, read the history. Get the whole picture, not just the best picks of today's news and last week's or last month's best picks for ratings. Study the entire history on both sides of this conflict and clearly see why both are doing what they are doing, and why it is the innocent civilians on both sides paying the price.

History is your friend...it fills in the gaps of assumption with cold hard facts.

Cheers!!!!

Palestine has paid for the German's holocaust. but tell me why they had to pay for it? if Britain and other european countries wanted Israel to exist why they did not found the ground for it on their own territory?

this is absurd. Israel is now doing the same to Palestine what Germans made to them and other nations during the WWII and there is silence in whole western world about it. the UN is making sometimes some ultimatum but Israel is the only country in the world who just doesn't give a S*** about it and never had a problem cause of it. look IRAQ - how they paid for refusing once the control in they magazines?!!!

You are in minority now with your Israeli-lover attitude, man! And that is good news, in time of these terrible headlines.

STOP OCCUPATION!

If there ever is a judgement day...now is the time for it to happen.
