Terrorist Attack, Washington DC, Inauguration Day

Anything is possible but to what end? To put Biden in the seat? I just don't see how it would benefit either side to eliminate PE Obama at this time. I do agree that he is a high assassination risk but he still has too much value for all concerned to harm him now. As far as for an attack from some crazy, well, the SS had better be on ultra alert because if that happens, boy will they look like a bunch of incompetent jerks. I just don't see the VP or the Speaker as being good substitutes at this time.

I live just south of DC in northern VA (about a 10m metro ride away from the heart of DC) and I can tell you that this place is going to be a madhouse. Highways are being shut down and there's going to be so many people in the area. More than 10x the normal rate.

I myself believe that multiple people are going to attempt things, whether they succeed or not, I don't know. The police force will be out in the masses however due to all the people compared to law officers out there I believe its very well possible a terrorist act of some sort (not just muslim terrorist cells for all you closed minded people) will occur.

Personally, im not really too worried about anything on a large scale occuring but I believe there's an easy possibility of it to occur.

Sorry I haven't updated this thread in a while. I have no more info from my father on this. So who knows.

But On an interesting side note WTOP the local news radio station for the DC area keeps telling everyone to carry a portable radio to the inauguration because cell phone systems will be down. And WTOP will broadcast important information.

Is this because of so many people jamming the lines? Or is there going to be mass chaos as speculated by my father?

Thanks for the support. Yes my dad did work at the Pentagon and yes my dad is ex-DIA (Air Force). He now works for a private contractor, Northrop Grumman to be exact, (his original company was bought out by them some years ago, I think it was called PreSearch or TRW or something I know he also worked with both those companies one was bought out by NG)

It's interesting to note, that all the bridges leading in to DC will be closed except for commercial vehicles like Taxis and busses. If something should happen a lot of people would be left trapped in the District, being unable to use personal vehicles to escape it could be pandemonium and a score of people can be hurt or worse.

It can't be hard to plan to kill Obama. 5 minutes of searching on the internet have given me this, a schedule with when and where. Combine this with a knowledge of the area (Google Earth/other map source) and the situation looks more reminiscent of the Kennedy parade printed in the newspaper. Now, it's not that detailed, but i'm sure that some crazy nut could go on and do it. You know, even a sane person could do it also.
If you think your dad gave you a hint and want him to be safe, just call his superior and tell him/her that your dad has told you something... You might not see him again, but he won't be in immediate danger, in a little cell. Or you can tell him to leave, whichever you want.

The Red Cross in my area have been put on alert. Volunteers have been put on standby incase something happens. That brings alittle reality to the What If.

Same in the DC area.

I'm sure because of the magnitude of people, they would have had to reach every Red Cross chapter. Lets just hope nothing happens. But if some terrorist where to simply walk through the crowds of people slowly spreading, say an infectious disease, then all those people go home and spread it to there state, home town etc. That would be a huge mess.
