I believe folks are born straight, gay, or bisexual. However, I also believe pedaphiles, and other "unnatural" sexual variations are inborn. No matter what you are born with, it is the choice to act upon it that comes in to play. If one is gay, should they believe that a pedaphile is free to act upon their desires just because they are born that way. Surely not. the same applies to homosexuals. The desire must be dealt with, not acted upon. JMO.

To the OP: When did you choose to become hungry and start eating? Eating is a natural, normal thing to do; indeed, it is even required to survive. Yet, we have people who will starve themselves or even throw up food they have consumed.

So, my point is this: Being "straight" is the de-facto "factory standard". People "chose" to be straight as much as people "chose" to become hungry and eat.

But it is the sexual act that defines the realtionship as homosexual. Living with and having love for a person of the same sex does not make you a homosexual.

Ok,what are you not getting,do I need to type it slower?

The emotion, the love, the attraction, the physical, all contribute to homosexuality. And guess what, thats exactly the same for heterosexuals.

I don't know why you feel that homosexuals have cornered the market on repressing sexual urges.

I never said anything of the sought.
I said that people have tried to force gays into repressing their natural desires. So do not put words into my mouth.

sir_chancealot

I realize this is a long thread, but,to save some of us from having to constantly repeat ourselves, can you read it.

Many gays have never ever, from their first sexual awakenings, been attracted to the opposite sex.So where does the choice come in? Why are they not also a part of the de-facto "factory standard"?

What i put here is for real, not a mockery; it is honest and sincere:

I had a terrible fear of girls when young. During my school days, i've never had a girlfriend (nor a boyfriend). After school, i found that girls would sometimes talk to me, but it were the guys who wanted to hit on me. So i gave it a bit of thought, that maybe i am supposed to be a homo.

But the thought was quickly crushed when i paged through a magazine for homosexuals. Then and now, i REALLY cannot see WHAT could be attractive about another guy's body. Sure, a guy has some role models one wishes he could look like; but even when i wanted to, i could not see why a man would want to have sex with another man.

Now i am glad that i got away from that; because first, it is sin that has never been excused- one who wishes to be a child of God, needs to deny himself. That includes denying what (you think society demands) you believe about having no choice about who or what you are or want to be. In both the old and new testaments, it is described as sin (in the OT, abomination); and in Revelations, it is written that none who works abomination, shall enter New Jerusalem.

I had my chance to make my choice. All have the choice. Sin itself is the equal opposite of error: error, is in ignorance. Sin, is in conscience.

And secondly, when i saw two homo's kissing at a rave (shortly after i got saved), it was totally nauseating.

Don't play the "no choice" card - that one is not part of the pack, neither of the game. And for those hoping to play the "christian homosexual"-cards:

At this table, God is the dealer. He expects you to play His cards here. The Self-Denial card is the winning card here. Which no christian can play, yet stay in homosexuality.

I dont know, but 10 plus 15 is 25. There are just over 6 1/2 billion of us, so close to 7. Thats nearly 2 billion. And if anything, that 15% is a conservative estimate.

Like I said, you can't add the 10 percent and the 15 percent together, as there's significant overlap(no pun intended). Those numbers themselves are somewhat of a guess, and to add them together like that is not very scientific. I'd be willing to bet some money that 1 out of every 4 people on the planet have not engaged in homosexual activities. You have to look at where these statistical cross sections are taken from too. You're gonna find a much higher percentage of gays/lesbians/bis/etc.... in urban areas(more specifically- more liberal minded urban areas), than you will elsewhere.

So wait. You flicked through a mag and realised that you aren't attracted to other guys and then to chose to be strait. BWAhahaha! You didn't make any choice, you were already strait to begin with, hence why the mag was a turn off.

You couldn't choose to like what's in there if you don't already.

but even when i wanted to, i could not see why a man would want to have sex with another man.

I don't like those mags or porn of the same nature, but I'm still attracted to numerous guys around me in my life.

I didn't want to be attracted to guys, and for 7 years I tried to force myself to change. It can't be done.

Oh no, sorry. You don't choose each time you become intimate with someone, as if there are options to the choice. As a heterosexual female, let me assure you that nothing would ever make me switch my identity, not even a billion dollars . These are born traits.
Edit to add: If I was on a deserted island with the hottest woman on earth I would not change my mind for a lifetime.

Thats the kinda luck I have.lol.

I've noticed those that are fond of saying that you can change your mind etc etc, never actually volunteer to put this theory in to practice themselves.

Exactly, that's what I noticed. "I like girls, why would I chose to go for guys?" Bloody hell, they don't think this through.

May I enquire as to who that would be in your opinion?

I'd say American actress Amy Smart.

Hmmm,so much choice.lol.

Would be between Eliza Dushku,Jennifer Connolly and Lisa Snowden.

Just been looking back through the thread and just noticed you asked me a question.Sorry,I've been kinda caught up in other debates. There's so many people in different threads that I need to reply too.I'm very much a scatter brain.lol.

I think we have established how little choice there is in the matter so the question is really "When did you work out what you were?"

I would say when I was 14,when I kissed a girl for the first time.Everything felt so right. My parents were kinda prudish on the whole dating thing,so luckily I never had them going on at me to find a 'nice young man.' Which meant I didn't have to tell them for a while. That also meant no stress, for a while at least.lol.When I finally told my parents I was a lesbian you coulda heard a gnat fart.

May I just say, my dear, you have excellent tastes.

Although that question wasn't directed just at you but everyone. Thanks for the answer though.

My parents don't know, yet. I don't know that I will tell them, I don't feel I need to. My friends know. Actually when I told my best friend, Robert, I predicted his reaction exactly, I shouldda bet money.

-I'm bisexual.
-True?
-Yes.
-...Wow.

That was pretty much it.

When I finally told my parents I was a lesbian you coulda heard a gnat fart.

I take it that it was a rather significant event, but what? Where they surprised, confused, upset?

Oh and I've changed my on the desert island woman thing.

Jamie Pressly MMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

There is a little bit of information about the sexuality switch in this piece ...or at least the question of it.

www.ggalanti.com/articles/Homosexuality.pdf

I don't think anyone chooses to be straight anymore than they choose what hair or eye colour they are going to have.
I also believe that homosexuals don't choose their sexual orientation either.
It just IS.

Edited for ridiculously long web addy.

yeah, that seems to be a pretty common theory. Which would put it down to biology. So again, one can't change who one is and what biology we are born with. There really is no "choice" about it.

There really is no "choice" about it.

Try as one might, it is a pointless endeavour. I tried for years, I repressed it. What a waste of time.

It's absurd that you had to repress yourself for so long.
All the lost time feeling unvalidated as a human being, when it just takes a bit of compassion from others and being left alone to get on with your life.....

I really hope that oneday, we can all be accepted for who we are.
The standard box that everyone is forced to live in, is getting smaller and more claustrophobic by the day.

Well in all fairness, I didn't have to. I was to cowardly to be myself, to worried of peoples attitudes.

there is one thing that is known through common sense. the gay/bisexual agenda is a recent one, and has been heavily pushed through the establishment, with a goal in mind.

there have always been gay people, whether they feared to go public or not. however, there are hugely increasing numbers, which the gay community would like to contribute to our "open society". i dont believe this for one minute. when we are bombarded by chemicals and toxicants that are known to cause these differences in animals, amphibians, and otherwise, how would we be spared? it would be egocentric to think that it hasnt had an effect on our biology. look at the rise in transgender births, the increased incidence of ovarian cancers, and reproductive problems. being gay is not solely a public conversation of choice when you use common sense and realize that frogs and fish arent the only lifeforms turning gay in increasing numbers. and is it mere coincidence that the media push and rise in chemicals that cause these genetic changes coincide?

and before every gay rights person starts waving their rainbow flag, realize that i support the movement and am not a homophobe or otherwise. im just trying to provide some rationality to this argument, instead of having the media lead the way on how we approach this topic.

For someone who claims to support, you seem rather ignorant of the nature of non-heterosexuality, particularly the causes.

My opinion...

If you're straight, you're straight. If you're gay, you're gay. Let the people live their lives damnit!

If you have a problem with gays...don't be gay. If you have a problem with straights, don't be straight. So, how can someone else being gay really affect you? People need to grow up and start living their own lives.
