This thread is about UFO personality Kal Korff who made a name for himself by writing skeptical books about Roswell, Bigfoot and Billy Meier. Aside from doing lectures in the UFO circuit he has also made several media appearences in various tv-shows including Larry King live.
www.kalkorff.com...

Although having received praise by ufologists for his work on the Meier case the last 2-3 years were characterised by fantastic claims (by Kal Korff) and many clashes with other noted ufologists such as Kevin Randle, Don Ecker and Paul Kimball to name a few.

Korff apparently left the field for a number of years but resurfaced in Prague (Europe) where he had settled down. There were rumors Korff had married a Czech woman and conceived a child but Korff himself doesn't comment on this.
In Prague Korff started his website again and from this point on it can only be categorised as the beginning of the end for Korff. Korff started his website with articles claiming he was going to sue Ray Santilli (Roswell autopsy film) and Michael Horn (Billy Meier U.S. spokesperson) for consumer fraud. (In retrospect, nothing of the sort transpired and nowdays Korff is working on a joint-production with Michael Horn.)

The most fantastical claim was that Kal Korff was a member of the Israeli founded 'Special Secret Services' and that he held the rank of 'Captain'. Korff claimed that the organization held international juristiction, that it wanted to protect the rights of consumers, fight international terrorism and also pursue (UFO) frauds.
Royce Myers III, a well-known ufological figure and owner of the ufowatchdog website, was the first to clash with Kal Korff. After some correspondence Myers immediately smelled something fishy and confronted Korff. The results can be found here;
www.ufowatchdog.com...

Here's an excerpt of some of the claims by Kal Korff;

Said he had cutting edge technology that he wanted to share with me for use on the Internet. Korff claimed to have created this cutting edge technology.
Has a $25,000,000 budget to work with to pursue UFO frauds.
Is going to be publishing a 24 volume series exposing the Billy Meier case and has a 500 book deal. (Yes, you read right, five-hundred, 5-0-0.)
Is a Captain in the Special Secret Services and works in anti-terrorism as a SAPSTOE (Special Activities Planning Strategies Tactics Operations Execution).

Claims like these, and there are many more, begg the question if Kal Korff is heading for a fall. Korff's claim that he's a ranking officer in a secret organisation can not be verified. Several people, including myself, have looked up 'Special Secret Services' on the internet and couldn't find any reference to it beside from Korff's own website and related articles.

More to come as we explore the rise and fall of Kal Korff.

More of Kal Korff's claims.

1. Solved John F. Kennedy's assassination (resolutely proving the lone bullet theory)

2. Signed deal for writing 500 (five hundred) books (undisclosed publisher, unknown timeframe)

3. Developed A-bomb design during grade school science fair, prompting clandestine government visit

4. Invented hypertext (a.k.a. clickable links on the internet) while "an engineer at Apple"

5. Converted to Judiaism (via simple declaration) and founded "Special Secret Services"

6. Once a Captain, now promoted to Colonel in above Special Secret Services

Kal is a total fruitcake. He had nothing to do with the OJ Simpson trial except watching it on TV, like most of us did.

Kal is a joke here in Prague, every expat here knows he is a lunatic and many Czechs that he has defrauded, stolen from, or abused now know it as well.

Kal even scammed a wonderful man here named Vohtek Sedlecek, who works with the mentally challenged, by purchasing thousands of Euros worth of Ipods and billing them to Mr.Sedlecek's organization.

That is verification enough that he is not part of any secret organization.

Though he may be on the other side of the belief equation, Korff embodies something all too common among many who gravitate towards this subject.

You're right. Unquestionable belief in a subject can make the person rigid. In Korff's case he seems to go beyond rigid and into his own rigid fantasy world.

Kal Korff and the Israeli founded "Special Secret Services".

In 2006 Kal Korff started making the claim that he was an officer in the Special Secret Services (or S3 for short), but what kind of organization is he referring to? Information outside of Korff related articles is apparently non-existent. From Korff himself we learn this;

"As a Captain in the Special Secret Services or (S3)[1]], Korff focuses specifically on counter terrorism operations, penetration and disruption initiatives, and is also involved in execution. Additionally, Korff helps expose and prosecute consumer frauds. His three book series called Secret Wars: Defending Against Terrorist Plots, will be published by Prometheus Books in 2007 and is considered to be the definitive work on terrorism yet written. It reveals the first details of Korff's longstanding work in counter intelligence, which was first disclosed by the Czech media in July of 2006."
www.nationmaster.com...

Kal Korff in a forum exchange to Paul Kimball;
"Disgusted with your "I'm innocent, objective" (but not really) facade, Kal Korff
Yes, a REAL Captain in the Special secret Services which is no different than when the British say The Secret Services or Armed Services or Armed Forces, they do NOT identify a single, specific agency NOR IS NONE INFERRED.
The specific details of who and what entities I work for are under wraps until Secret Wars comes out. What you or anyone "believes" or not, doesn't matter and won;t change things."
www.cassiopaea.org...

Apparently Captain Korff (who btw is a Colonel now) has an adjudant. (from the link above);
"We wish to resolve this matter amicably, and avoid informing the media and
filing suit.
Sincerely,
Avim Ashkenazi
Adjutant to Colonel Kal Korff -- Warrant Officer, Special Secret Services - Israel

Getting to the truth.

Kal Korff has a weekly one hour segment on the XZone radioshow with Rob McConnell. Finally after some 2 years Korff admitted that the Special Secret Services is in fact a private organization and thus has no official capacity (whatsoever) as the words imply.
Ufologist Paul Kimball had this to say on his blog;
"Of course, Korff also claims to be a Captain in the Special Secret Services, but if you listend to a question asked to him about that on the same X-Zone show as the witness question, you'll hear him hem and haw about what that means (I was the person who e-mailed that question in as well). Apparently, despite the alleged fact that the organization has a name, implying it is in fact an organization, and despite the alleged fact that Korff has a commission from said organization, apparently there is no such organization, at least not in the "linear sense" (Korff's term, not mine) - whatever the heck that means."
redstarfilms.blogspot.com...

Korff's Special Secret Services are just that, an invention of Kal Korff. For years Korff chose to remain vague about the organization and attacked those who questioned him and didn't take him at his word. It remains to be seen if Korff lost sense of reality or that he is playing games. However, there's no doubt that Korff lost a lot of credibility.

Probably the man himself.

Kal Korff and the book Secret Wars.

In 2006 Korff claimed his (new) book Secret Wars was due out in 2007, published by Prometheus Books. It's mentioned on the following website;
"In 2007 Korff is expected to make history still further with his three book series called Secret Wars: Defending Against Terrorist Plots, which will be published by Prometheus Books in 2007 and is considered to be the definitive work on terrorism yet written. Volume II of the series is regarded as the final word on the Munich Massacre at the 1972 Olympics, and it exposes George Jonas' bestselling, iconic work Vengeance and Steven Spielberg's Munich as literary and theatrical frauds."
www.nationmaster.com...

Despite the fact that the book is listed on Amazon.com release date 2004, from the customer reviews section we learn that no book was ever published;
"Normally, when one reviews a book one must first readit. I'd love to do that for this review, but contrary to what it says at the top of this page, this book has never been published. Moreover, Prometheus Publishing has publicly stated that they WILL NOT be publishing this book, ever.

I guess that makes "Secret Wars" like remote viewing: it doesn't exist now nor will it in the foreseeable future."

Korff managed to create many antagonists in a short time. A number of those people comment and make inquiries on the following blog;
kalisanidiot.blogspot.com...
One of the contributors took the effort of mailing Prometheus Books and this was the reply;
"Subject: RE: Book Inquiry
Date: Fri, 13 Jun 2008
From: [email protected]
To: ******@hotmail.com
CC: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]

Thank you for your interest in Prometheus books.

At this point, Secret Wars is on hold indefinitely.

MaryBeth
Customer Service"

What becomes transparent is that Kal Korff makes many claims that simply aren't true. His (self) critically acclaimed book is not going to be published while Korff did bolster about it for many years. Again diminishing his credibility.

More to come.

Kal Korff and the threat of lawsuits.

Whenever critiqued, Kal often threatens lawsuits for "libel, slander, consumer fraud." The extent Kal Korff proceeds with lawsuits is debatable, ranging from "official papers have been filed with numerous courts, police and the FBI" (K. Korff) to idle threats (3 interviews of people targeted by Korff below).

Past lawsuits, threatened or otherwise:
* Lawsuit against Ray Santilli
* Lawsuit against Billy Meier
* Lawsuit against Michael Horn
* Lawsuit against Don Ecker
* Lawsuit against Paul Kimball
* Lawsuit against Royce Myers
* Lawsuit against David Biedny
* Lawsuit against Officer Jim Geiger, Josephine County Police, Oregon
* Lawsuit against Officer Brad Johnson, Josephine County Police, Oregon

Criminal charges were alledgedly "filed" against all the above as well. The grounds for all lawsuits above range from critique of Kal on a website, to unrelated, legal conviction against a relative (see below).

Slanderous behavior from Kal in response:
While Kal is quick to announce a lawsuit, his more severe responses range from genuine slander to intimidation or blackmail:
Kevin Randle exposes Kal, then Kevin Randle is threatened with complaints and accused of having "terrorist ties."
Mac Tonnies questions Kal, then is threatened with a complaint to the FBI and accused of being a racist.
Gene Steinberg hosts a message board exposing Kal, Gene Steinberg is accused of promoting hate.

Perhaps most damaging to others' reputation:
Regarding police directly involved in incarcerating Kal's brother (Kurtis Korff was tried by jury and successfully convicted of a felony: guilty of attempted assault). The police were threatened with "nanobots" by Kal, plus lawsuits and criminal investigations.

Kal says he is having a lawsuit filed against Ray Santilli. When Ray Santilli laughs at this Kal claims Ray Santilli has ties to porn and neo Nazis. (While completely unfounded, Ray intends no countersuit)

Milos Bartu files a lawsuit against Kal, then is threatened with the FBI and Department of Justice. Going further, Kal threatened Milos of involving Milos' employer.

What does this mean to me?
Just be aware that Kal can and does go beyond holding a grudge and continues to slander those who critique him.

Kal Korff is a clown. There is no other way to say it. He’s not a debunker, or even a disinformation agent, he’s just a delusional sad little man, living in his fantasy world.

Any time spent researching him or reading up his claims is a waste of time, in my opinion.

Why the interest TerraX, if you don’t mind me asking?

Hi Danx. To answer your question, I guess there are several answers. One would be that debunkers can just be as "bad" as some (ufo) believers. I think Kal Korff's case shows that going to the extreme side of the 'spectrum' (the debunking way) isn't really the answer of researching the UFO enigma. Balance seems to be the key here. Maybe by showing what Korff is about people can learn from this apparent mess.

But I have to say that for the last 2 years or so I've been following up on Korff which in the beginning was more out of curiosity and the entertainment he provides. Later on I realised that in some aspects he is deadly serious and that brings in the psychology factor. Not everyone realises what Korff is about. Human behaviour shows how we handle the UFO phenomenon. I really believe that ufology also provides a mirror which we can look into and that it's not only about ETs, extra-dimensionals or God-knows-what but in the final analysis about ourselves.

I don’t think Korff can be considered a debunker... he adds more bunk to the field than most UFO (blind) believers.

His book, as it is shown in one of those videos you posted, is basically a cut & paste job from other people’s work on Roswell. So what exactly has he done to be considered a debunker? Nothing, in my opinion.

I guess people call him a debunker because he’s against the ETH and other (conspiracy) theories. But he really hasn’t debunked anything.

But the really sad reality is that there aren’t any people worthy of being called debunkers. There are things in the UFO field that do need to be debunked, because they really are bunk. All this bunk poisons the pool and taints the good cases, helping to keep on giving the UFO field a bad name.

I would probably be called a UFO believer by most skeptics, but I recognize how important it is for the name of the field, it’s reputation and the quality of the research, if there were true skeptics scientifically debunking hoaxes and embellished stories, and analyzing the research being done by “UFO Researchers”.

Most of the time, things end up being debunked by “UFO Researchers” themselves, while researching a particular case or story.

There are plenty of pseudoskeptics like Michael Shermer, though, who act like they are skeptics, but haven’t really checked the evidence and do ‘research’ by proclamation, as Stanton Friedman puts it.

And just like the doe-eyed believers, they are an embarrassment and useless to the field.

I understand your reasoning and you're quite right. I call him a 'debunker' because every action by this man seems to be directed at denying an event or phenomenon, be it Roswell, Bigfoot or the JFK related conspiracy theories and so on. Think I heard him comment in one of his YouTube videos that he doesn't consider himself a debunker. Your definition above can apply just as easily.

Have to agree with Terra X on the use of "debunker"...in regards to Korff...

To me, it's the opposite of a blind believer...it's a person who strives to "publicly" prove all cases could not be ET related, instead of one who follows the evidence to a logical conclusion...whether that conclusion is ETs, or another explanation....

Of course, that doesn't make Meier's claims any less fantastic, or the proven frauds in that case any less credible, as many, other than Korff have pointed them out....

This is where I respectfully disagree.

Have you actually seen him prove anything? Because I haven’t. To be a debunker don’t you have to actually debunk something?

He’s added more bunk with his fantasies and stories, than most blind believers who have videoblogged their stories and theories on Youtube.

One of the main interests in what we call "Korffing" is our alarm at how Kal K. Korff time and again infuses himself into an issue of the day and trivializes it as a way to promote himself. The discussions cease being about UFOs or Bigfoot or JFK or O.J. Simpson or counter-terrorism or technological frontiers, and instead become discussions about Kal K. Korff. Instead of debating the merits of ET visitations, we end up discussion the so called credentials of Kal K. Korff. Instead of discussion the possibility of a cryptozoological explanation for Bigfoot, we end up discussing the methods of Kal K. Korff. Instead of discussing the seriousness of worthy subjects like the JFK assassination, we instead end up discussing Kal K. Korff's claims or assertations about himself. It trivializes what could be profound subjects relating to the human condition and makes the focus of everyone's attention on Kal K. Korff himself. The UFOs and Bigfoot and forensic data cease being important, and what becomes important instead is trying to root out the truth on trivial statistical data about someone who has no discernable connections to those subjects beyond how he can use them to aggrandize himself.

He also goes about this self aggrandizement via character assassination rather than actual research or formulating hypotheses on his own which might contribute to the discussion: Instead of revealing further information about the O.J. Simpson murders, the claim of involvement becomes away for Kal K. Korff to promote himself at the expense of anyone who might publicly challenge his claim. Instead of pursuing a useful debate about various Roswell claims, he uses the opportunity to attack and discredit other researchers, to the point of giving himself the rank of a Colonel so that he has a moral authority over someone with a legitimate rank of a Major. It's childish, infantile, and trivializes not only the subject matter but the reputations of those who may have previously been involved with the discussion.

If this is what paranormal interest studies is reduced to then we might as well give up on it right now and let individuals like Kal K. Korff dictate what the human condition is supposed to be about, including our values systems on the different mysteries that add some spice to our otherwise dull communal existence. I reject such a conclusion and am offended by Kal K. Korff's single minded fixation on trivializing any and all subjects of inquiry into the mysteries of existence into platforms to promote himself, especially at the expense of the reputations those who arrive at conclusions that are at odds with whatever pet theory Kal K. Korff would rather us arrive at. Character assassination does not equal useful debate, and repeating the claims of others just to dismiss them does not equal valid research. He is also either completely delusional or a liar of such proportions that it is impossible to discern when he is putting on the world to pursue one of his charades and when he may be actually relating the truth of the matter.

But then again this is exactly the kind of attention that Kal K. Korff craves: the shifting of emphasis away from the phenomenon in question to a discussion about Kal K. Korff. In the end the only person who benefits from any of it ends up being Kal K. Korff, whatever the discussion maybe inevitably ends up being hijacked and trivialized. I don't know about anyone else but to me the subject of whether ETs have visited us or not is a far more interesting subject than whether or not Kal K. Korff is a Colonel or a computer pioneer or the Atom Bomb Kid. The problem is that if he has his way that's all we will discuss, and it sickens me to see such a single minded pursuit of self-interest to the expense of all other concerns. Whatever the subject it always ends up being about Kal K. Korff, and the rest of us just end up getting in the way of his "making history all over again."

It seems Kal Korff ran into a little legal trouble last year. Apparently he had ordered Apple hardware at a store called Cable and Simms (in Prague) but sent the bill to a company called Agentura ProVas. (Previously Korff claimed to be CIO of that company but later it turned out he was hired as a freelance English teacher and had no executive role whatsoever.)

Anyway, here's the page (in Czech);
www.cables.cz...

Eventhough Korff keeps quiet about it, it has all the hallmarks of fraud and theft. Korff ordered a couple of iPods and a MacBook and sent the bill to the company he was working as a part-time English teacher. Last year Korff briefly threathend to sue Cable&Simms on his website and also wrote he would notify the FBI! Then it went pretty silent.

Strangely enough Korff had a YouTube video pulled down where he delivers the exact same Apple hardware listed as missing on the Cable&Simms site. Fortunately enough some Korff kritics had the foresight of saving some of Korff's video adventures and put the respective clip back on.
www.youtube.com...

How did Colonel Korff from the Special Secret Services resolve this issue? The answer is on the Cable&Simms site in the updates,...

..he sent the bill to his mother.
