That Russian dance is haunting. There's something completely mesmerizing about it.

And those faces.

Let's keep it slightly surreal, but go for something a little more culturally relevant...

I know - it shouldn't make me happy - but it always does

more culturally relevant than grim boot making Russians? What do you mean?

surreal and absurd always works for me :-)

that was just crazy - yet beautiful

I'm going to have to watch it a few times now...

We'll have to dish up some more then (though it may be too much to view in one go):

optional full version of the ball game
:

So where did it all start? -

we now go from the rediculous to the sublime (-yep, it's real):

...not telling you which one I was though.

Not theatrical enough for you?

Never forget, David Belle is the man:

Look out for it. It's happening on a street near you:

To summarize: parkour / free running / yamakasi - it's all good.

And before you ask: yes it does have practical applications:

I love this stuff - even though it makes me feel like an inanimate object

forgot to say: no, not too much for one viewing

and - nice to have you back :-)

...it makes me feel like an inanimate object.

Sorry - didn't mean to become the source of an inferiority complex.

Don't be embarrassed. Just take the train.

I've always found a good bit of music to be uplifting and enjoyable. One of my favorites though is Animusic. I bought both Dvds. Just gotta love these.

"Pipe Dreams"

Followed by

"Starship Groove"

I've always preferred to listen/watch these with headphones.

By the way, thanks to the OP for this thread. Some very nice things here.

Edited to add one more:

"Future Retro"

Wow, I was just looking for a place to post this video.
Joe Satriani is a Guitar virtuoso..But Perhaps not the best singer.

But I have ALWAYS loved this song, from his CD "Flying in a Blue Dream"

It's called "I BELIEVE"

Put on your headphones and listen to the layering of sounds. Read the lyrics as you listen.

Ive been out walking for hours.
Ive got something on my mind.
How did we get here? where are we going?
And why is life so hard?

I read the stories, see the photographs.
Worlds in a crazy space.
Ive got to hold on to my dreams;
Theres just no other place.
Theres just no other place.

Chorus:
I believe
We can change anything.
I believe
We can rise above this.
I believe
Theres a reason for everything.
I believe
In my dream.

Ive seen the shadows of the living.
Seen them turn and walk away.
And I keep searching for the right words
To send these thoughts away.

Theres a picture I like to look at,
A picture of a beautiful face.
And I see something in her eyes,
Sends me to a better place.
Sends me to a better place.

Chorus

I believe
We can change anything.
I believe
In my dream.

I absolutely LOVE the ANIMUSIC series.
MY boss once sent me an e-mail. Thinking that one of the videos was produced from a actual real life machine, built from John Deere Tractor parts.
It was one of those viral emails, did you ever see that?

I'd never seen this - nice

found myself trying to make sure there was a ball for ever single note

but, that's my problem

Yep, there's a ball for every note. From what I understand they create the intruments FIRST using their own software and then feed in the music (Midi format) and then render the results.

Here's a link to more animusic on you-tube. You'll also note that these are officially released ones as well. Animusic official releases

Your boss may be thinking of this Honda commercial.

Very cool commercial and no CGI either.

I don't know if someone has already put the video "Christian the Lion" in here, but please check it out on YouTube. I would put it here but I don't know how to yet :bnghd:

It will make you cry and feel good all at the same time. I sent it to friends on Christmas Eve...awesome, and true, story!!

Thanks for the reminder. Yep, it pretty much tops my list too. I did put it in the OP, but embedding has since been disabled. So here it is again, in link form:

Please have a handkerchief at the ready

And while I'm at it, here's the other clip from the OP that has now gone from YouTube:

It's been great to be able to sit back and enjoy the quality posts on this page. Deson left me spellbound. Some nice fingerwork in there. There's only one response:

spacedoubt: very evocative. Here's what it brought to mind:

A torn soul

Spira: I can see you in the crowd

And never forget the perils of being a musician

And, finally, seeing as you enjoyed the freerunning, a quick reminder that you don't have to be young to stand out

you know - you're right :-)

when this came out - I liked it - the first 5,000 times I heard it - then at 5,001 I was sick to death of it.

Sick. To death.

but - listening to it again - much later - it's pretty nice. And unfortunately, catchy - so now I can pretty much guarantee this is all I'll be hearing in my head for the next 3 days. This happens to me a lot for some reason - so, thanks for that :-)

anyhow - don't know if you've heard anything else he does, but he can do some amazing things with his voice/instrument

how should one respond to these...?

no idea - but, yeah - quirky/borderline mentally unstable - my favorite

also - my ability to watch video yesterday was messed up, so just saw. Blues Brothers - it's been a while, so I forgot. I feel love - a deep and special kind of love for them - thanks for reminding me

and yeah - wasn't there - but have been in similar situations :-)

edit to add: that version of Only You - pretty nice
