Man what is this world coming to.

"A 15 year-old American girl has been charged with child pornography offences after posting pictures of herself online.

The unnamed teenager is accused of sending photos of herself "in various states of undress and performing a variety of sexual acts" to people she met in online chat rooms, AP reports. Police found dozens of inappropriate photos when they seized the girl's PC."

I don't even know what to comment about this. I mean it is pretty stupid, but she should not be charged in the same way that I pedophile would be.

Ya know, there seriously needs to be laws against stupidity, cause this is a shining case of it. How the hell can someone abuse themselves? Now if there were images found on her computer of others her age, then I can see there being grounds for some kind of action, but thats a different story than having picture of yourself in the buff. All just one more reason why there should be an IQ test to even touch a computer, let alone get on one connected to ther internet.

How can it be child pornography when she posted the pictures herself?

Screw an IQ test. She just should've been grounded by her parents. This is one of the stupidest things that I've read in a long while.

This happens all the time. Young girls with hormones feeding them love the attention. Sexual morals are gone all but gone for the majority. I know of friends how have been active before the age of 10. Its cool to be a slut and open yourself up to STDs in this millenium.

The one's prosecuting her are the ones that need the IQ test.

If they could catch her slapping herself they could get her on child abuse charges.

NO. if there should be an iq test for anything (not that iq is conclusive to anything) then it should be for the laywers and judges who somehow decide that you can have a crime charged against yourself. she cant be tried as a pedophile anyway because shes not even 18. (although the reason that she is a minor might be the reason they can conclude that she can be charged a crime against herself).

how about the guys in the picture with her? they can definitly be charged with sex offender.

This is where a parent should punish there kid. I don't see a problem with taking pictues of yourself, but the cops should be going after the people she gave the pics too not her. They are the ones with kiddie porn.

what if you had seen this girl online and didnt know her age??? you just happened upon the material....should you be charged ????
alot of gray areas here

Well it's simple really. Pornography of minors is not legal. The girl posted pornography of a minor, whether it was herself, her neighbor, her sister/brother, whatever! The law had been broken, period.

And the people she sent the pics to may not have known she was a minor (I know, that's unlikely), you never know. I'm sure their pc's were investigated also.

Of course not! What if someone posted a picture here and the mods did not get to it before someone saw it? You were not looking for it as this is not a site to post such things hence you would not be liable.

This is an interesting case, I'd like to hear what the prosecutors would have to say about this, clearly due to the fact, it was she herself with no provaction taking the photos, can you even charge a minor with child pornography? In all honestly, I'd really like to know how this all plays out. It's an interesting case nonetheless.

So someone who tries to commit suicide should be charged with attempted murder? Or if I hit myself with a bat a couple times I should be charged with assault with a deadly weapon? WTF??? How can you charge a minor with minor pornagraphy of herself? She has underage porn, but she is underage, so not a pedofile. So, should they charge her with the same crime everytime she takes a shower? WTF!?! This doesn't make any sense.

Oops, parking brake wasn't on when parked on a hill and it ran my foot over. I should be charged with attempted murder with a vehicle. What will it be next time?(BTW is she cute?) Oh that was so wrong, I should remove that. But it funny, like making a person with one leg fight in an ass kicking contest. It wrong but funny!

This just highlights the stupidity of using age as a gauge in our laws to begin with, but it is the law and she did break it. Personally I have no respect for the person who took the time to turn her in. The reality of it is she was doing nothing wrong. The idea that laws are going to stop human beings from seeking out sex is a joke and has always been.

If I possesed a picture of her then yes I could be prosecuted, it doesn't matter if I'd been ignorant to the fact that she's underage.

This reminds me of a story where there was some popular porn star a few years back and when her true age was found out years later and they did the math & figured out she'd been doing videos since her early teens. Of course the videos disappeared off the store shelves immediately, but I wonder how many didn't make it to the trash bin. I remember something in the media telling people to get rid of those videos if they had any.
