These are wonderful photos!

And I know the story behind them. I was there. The photos were taken near the town of Churchill on Hudson Bay. The dogs belong to a man who raises sled dogs.

He FEEDS the bears to keep them from attacking the dogs. The bears hang out on the ice nearby and wait for their handouts.

In between feedings they spar with each other and play with the dogs.

It was possibly the most wonderful trip I've ever taken.

Happy Holidays everyone!

You have to be serious gullable to believe that polar bear is completly wild. I am sure it has had some ineraction with humans and human society to become that friendly with dogs. Male Polar bears are loners and the dog could have been female and could have been in heat. Its hardly a miracle.

Here's a lion behaving much like in the video with the baboon.
Pulls the fetus out of an antelope or something, sets it aside, and lays down for a while.

Kind of graphic and I'm pretty sure the website is mature-only, but it's still interesting.

Thought for sure this was going to be a small bear.

Surprise....A full grown bear plays with the dog....UNREAL.

That just don't happen, strange things in nature do crop up
now and again.

Saw on TV once on a migration in Africa, crossing a river and
a croc grabed a zebra and held on to him.
In the next second or two the croc let him go. The zebra got his
footing and made it to shore and took off.
As the zebra was making his way to shore the camera was aimed
where the croc had him in his jaws. Not a mark was on his hide.
Amazing natural world........sometimes.

I have to say I've seen the video at least 50 times and it still gets me every single time, and I never cry, never, I actually dislike the majority of all that schmaltzy, luvvy duvvy, kissy stuff, but for some reason that video kills it. I can't hold back the tears no matter how hard I try, every time.....and I also sent it to everyone I know, I feel everybody on earth needs to see taht video.....

also whoever said we should have a thread like this every christmas is absolutely one hundred percent correct, thats a great idea....its a welcome break from all the doomsday type subject matter thats all over these threads....

merry christmas to everyone and if that video touches just one person's life it all worth it.

again my hats off to 'matrix for starting this thread, even if things got kinda off topic, the direction the thread went in I think is overall great.

MERRY CHRISTMAS HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND WINTER SOLSTICE TO ALL
