Both in same headline news...

Winter storms hit western, eastern U.S.
www.reuters.com...

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Winter storms walloped much of the northern stretches of the United States on Sunday, leaving holiday travelers stranded and causing power outages as blizzards and freezing rain struck parts of the East and West.

- But, so we would not forget "the truth" ...

Climate change could one day doom "white Christmas"
www.reuters.com...

Even though heavy snow this year will guarantee a white Christmas in many parts of Asia, Europe and North America, an 0.7-degree Celsius (1.3 Fahrenheit) rise in world temperatures since 1900 and projected bigger rises by 2100 suggest an inexorable trend.

- Not very good season for Global Warming Hoax, uh?

Damned, and we just made "Al Gore The Saviour" !!!

This doubled headed news seems only to be a problem for those who wish to deny AGW or else can't see that there are multiple scales at work.

The first story is about the 'weather' in northern parts of the USA. A small(ish) region of the world for a small length of time. At about the time of year you might expect it to be cold.

The year as a whole has been comparitively cold compared to recent years. This is due to larger scale forcing events like el Nina which drives cold 'weather' patterns throughout the world.

The second story is about the 'climate', which is a large area (the world) and is over a long time, in this case 100 years. Having a look outside of your window at what is happening doesn't tell you anything about the climate. To understand the climate look at long term graphs which are readily available and show an increase in global average temperatures, as the second story shows.

It is a fact that there is more water vapour in the atmosphere because of global warming. That should mean more chance of snow and bad weather in general, especially during the winters!
