non-DNA examples of variation in
populations, to study instances of natural selection where the gene is not the unit of selection.
In other words, there are some aspects of the "promise of biotechnology" that stand on questionable premises from a scientific viewpoint.
This is particularly true of "DNA evidence" used to exculpate criminals in their appeals. It turns out that some DNA evidence is not nearly as rock
solid as Law and Order & CSI would have us believe.
