Topic started on 6-4-2004 @ 06:33 AM by Britman

US and UK spies are believed to have foiled a plot to set off a Chemical bomb in the UK.

news.bbc.co.uk...

Excellent work by the securety services.

(I'd have submitted this to ATSNN but didn't see the point)

I think they might've been acting over-cautiously here which is understandable, but it is still definately ATSNN worthy Britman. Don't hesitate to submit in future.

"I don't think it would be a major hazard and clean up would not be a major problem", said the bloke from Leeds University. The plotters apparently hadn't even purchased the aforementioned chemical either, with the security services being alerted via a 'communications intercept'.

Call me a cynic, but this doesn't sound like an impending threat. This seems to be scaremongering. Why was this 'incident' reported in such a way. The right wing press has a lot to answer for!!!!

Well that is what I was saying, they jumped the gun somewhat. Very over-cautious which is understandable with the police, but I don't understand why the British media are pouncing all over this one.

I guess they'll do anything for a story these days, it's been a slow day anyway. You're right though, I don't like the scare-mongering one little bit.

I think it would cause more fear then deaths. People are worried about a bio/chem attack.

As for ATSNN, been there and I don't have the T-Shirt as I'm always beaten to it.

Actually, this is a great story.

because the UK is next. They hit Madrid. So, I imagine this was the beginning stages of thier plans to hit the UK. maybe not scaremongering after all. maybe they didnt just clip it at the bud, but maybe the very sprout. At least, maybe delayed a possible terror atack against the UK.

Looks like they will have to go to plan B now.

This would come under the same classification as "connecting the dots about 9-11" which the intel community has been getting beaten on for not doing ever since.

Overcautious is better than undercautious.

Look at what's going on in Iraq. The shyte is hitting the fan. This could very well have been psy ops. Gotta distract attention away from the carnage in Iraq and keep the sheople scared.

Note:

Lotsa woulda, coulda.. No real hard facts.

But Professor Hay told the BBC it would have to be obtained from a specialist chemical supplier and it did not fit the profile of a typical chemical warfare or dirty bomb agent. - So where might it come from? Hmm... Gee, I wonder.

From the article:

Plotters were thought to be...
Experts... - What experts?
could potentially...
would have..
would have been..

Lotsa fear and little substance to it...
