China blocked media sites, say reports

CHINA, widely criticised for its censorship of the media, this week blocked access to The New York Times, the newspaper says.
When computer users in cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou yesterday tried to connect to nytimes.com, they received a message that the site was not available, the newspaper said.

There was no access to the site from Beijing late today without the protection of a virtual private network (VPN).

Wow, I'm sure glad I don't live in a horrible polluted, over-populated HELL hole like China where simple bits of news are considered illegal.

I don't see what the point of blocking the New York Times has. Anti-communist propoganda from the US? Or just China showing how controlled it has it's sheeple.

those Chinesse people, are allways ahead of Western Europe with their media control! this is not good, we have to strugle to catch up with them , right?? !
