From New York City:

We have just occupied New School University.

We liberate this space for ourselves, and all those who want to join us, for our general autonomous use. We take the university in explicit solidarity with those occupying the universities and streets in Greece, Italy, France and Spain.

This occupation begins as a response to specific conditions at the New School, the corporatization of the university and the impoverishment of education in general. However, it is not just this university but also New York City that is in crisis: in the next several months, thousands of us will be losing our jobs, while housing remains unaffordable and unavailable to many and the cost of living skyrockets.

Wow, so add this to the riots in Augusta Georgia, Denver Colorado and others around the world. Interesting times we live in.

Didn't you just post this same story yesterday. A bunch of spoiled brats at a $50,000 a year private school may lose their library so the school can build a new building that may or may not house a new library.

You have been bitten by the protest bug and brainwashed by those radical websites. You know the feds monitor that site don't you.

A post from inside the protest:

Notes From the New School Occupation

Hundreds of people spent most of last night chanting, speaking and singing outside of the New School for Social Research. The protest outside was in support of those on the inside - the more than 100 people occupying the cafeteria inside of the Lang Building. The occupiers demands, scrawled in red and pasted on a wall on the side of building, called for the immediate removal of New School President Bob Kerrey. The charges highlighted his role as a CIA operative in Vietnam, anti-democratic management style and support of a Board Member connected to the war-profiteering L3 Communications.

Why would an extremely liberal private school hire a guy like this anyway. As soon as word leaked out about his past, lack of credentials and about his stance on the Iraq war faculty began the move to oust him. He goes against the very grain of the school and now everyone is mad that he was hired.
