Why do people tolerate lesbians and not homosexual men?

Just looking around on the site....this seemed interesting. I feel as though men are the dominant species, which dates back to the Bible, and I also acknowledge the fact that this is visible in Western civilization as we know it. Today's "Every Man" will do whatever it takes to fit in the "Every Man" demographic. This leads to more of a forced oppinion for males on Homosexuality. I've encountered countless people in a constant battle to be as "straight" as they can, due to the overgrowth in Homosexuality in our cities Vs one's own insecurities. Because, most men lack intellect and emotional freedom they will quickly denounce any type of embracement of anything contrary to a Heterosexual lifestyle, which in turn kills any notion of their own alternate sexual encounters. Which in a lot of cases have occured somewhere or another in most MALE cases.

One of my best friends is a lesbian, and believe me, lesbian nightclubs get extremely out of control at times. And the number of partners they have is exactly the same as any guy (myself included).

It seems this thread is full of people making assumptions who have stereotypical views on the gay and lesbian communities. Maybe we need a gay member to come on here and clear all this up

I would generally say, I am heterosexual and monogamous. Oh, but that is very socially acceptable isn't it?

I am single and I am not interested in having a relationship with a man. The 'penis' penetrates the woman and defiles the soul. Women do not defile one another because they don't have a penis. I am not sexually attracted to women either, but I can certainly understand if women choose to be intimate with another women.

See how they splash the word lesbian because it creates a more vivid and useful framework as you read the story and imagine the events. This even though the story says there's no evidence she was a "lesbian" ...No, she might have liked guys also, but that's beside the point. The word "lesbian" just makes the purpose of this bite-sized mass-media-meal much more effective. It is a thumbnail-sketch of brutality that will stick with you, as it is designed to do. Surely humanity eats eachother all the time like this, but the way it is slickly published to you, as if it is "news", is the giveaway. "News" like this is designed to evoke strong emotions in you (which will probably increase your internal conflict, as designed)

When's the last time a bunch of secretly-gay women gang-raped a gay man and got off on it? No, the scumbag latent-homos in the story are probably used to being raped --by other gay male rapists, in order to move up in their gang.

I doubt these guys were all hetro because being hetro means having some respect for the female, doesn't it? I think most rapists are secretly rape-victims or secretly haters of women. It's hard to talk about being raped, especially for confused young males who get victimized in a group setting by their "straight but sometimes not" buddies. It DOES however make them victims, and as such, more useful in propogating such behavior upon others, doesn't it?

That's what prison boys do to each other, isn't it? Treat each other like this? Where'd these punks learn such behavior? From their mommas? Unlikely.

That is typical of media with any 'news'...they cast the spin they want, sensationalise it so it sells.

OMG I have spent so many years trying to analyse behavior... the fact is, we will never know. All we can do is theorize and that can be so destructive:

Victims? Is it karma? Is this karma? Is this the will of God?

I believe this too. People just don't do these things without reason...there has to be a reason, whether it is learnt or based on some emotional trigger from an experience. Men and young boys are raped too. It does not just happen to women. It is a horrific crime. When I suggested the penis penetrates the soul... well that penetrates mens/boys too.

There are women perpetrators too. It is not confined to one sex.

I said earlier in the thread, my sexuality is moulded by my upbringing, my experiences and the 'pressures' from society. IMO, everyone is the same in that regard.

I understand your frustration and I am sorry you feel that way. I did not write this thread to produce nothing. I posted it because I believed there is a huge contradiction going on.

A double standard that is just mind boggling and what makes it worse, is that it is so obvious and yet it continues to be perpetuated.

Gay penetrative sex between women doesn't neccessarily have to involve "anal" sex.

The same cannot be said for sex between men.

Normal....maybe, natural...not imo.

As a gay man myself, this strikes home alot.

There are so many things that I want to say. But I will keep this short.
If you avoid those that you wish to have no contact with then you have no contact with them and there is no issue.
Society needs to learn tolerance for deviations from the society originated normal. We see things all the time that we cannot understand and we think what in gods name was that. But if you continue walking then yours lives are kept seperate and there in no conflict of interests. Just because someone has a different sexual orientatuion does not make them any less a human being with the same wants, needs and desires as anyone else. it also doesn't mean that they can contribute less to society in any manner of fashion.

If we learn tolerance, i repeat tolerance, not acceptance. For we do not have to accept something for it to continue being on a seperate path, the world could become a much more suitable place for a lot more people who need to be who they are, but cannot because they know that they will not be accepted.....

I believe that women cannot violate other women because there is no part of them that can go inside of the body, like with men.

How about that thing made out of ruber that they can wear as a belt.

That is something I would agree with .....I love macho men for my lover,husband whatever ...but a man who will listen and talk with me (somewhat feminine soft side) is what I like more than sex even ...
Lesbian women scare me lol ...they want my body and that feels really awkward to me when they come onto me ...they are worse than men can be sometimes .


In answer to the question (at least from a hetero female perspective) I dont care to see either one having sex ...I am pretty old fashioned about sex ..I even want the lights out before hubby can even go there with me lol .....
Sex is a personal private matter to me and even watching others (on video or TV or even in real life) makes it very uncomfortable for me ...

I just came back to add that I think this whole generation of people are way to open about sex ...and there is way too much experimenting going on between both sexes .......I think sex has turned to SMUT and LUST instead of something beautiful and private and sensual ..and emotional ...
This generation despises those things ...obviously ...

well my response to the op is pretty shallow, i view most women (most mind you!) to be beautiful creatures. (yea i said creatures we aint nothin but mammals right?) while guys to me are pretty grotesque, we are lumpy and have hair all over the damn place, and yes i know the metros shave themselves but thats just as damn nasty! i think sam kinison said it best when he said that he didnt understand how a dude on a beach can see some other dude's hairy behind and say "oh, yeah! i cant wait to get a piece of that!, but thats probably cause im straight and i know its hypocritical to say that two chicks doin it is hot but two guys doin it is like seein yer g-ma gettin on with a summer sausage on you tube but thats the way it is for me. as for there right to do it. go for it whatever floats your boat fellas..... just dont ask me to swab yer deck!

My guess is that porn has paved the way to tolerance for lesbians. Porn depicts lesbianism as a beautiful thing. Teenagers, who are probably porn's biggest audiece and the most likely to have intolerant attitudes, perceive lesbianism as a good thing. Thus, as these teenagers grow older, they bear no ill-will towards lesbians that flourishes into intolerance. (They may have misconceptions about lesbianism, but they lack ill will.)

Because everything isn't always equal. At the universal or God level everything equals out and becomes one. At the lower levels, discombobulations are common.

I had a couple gay roomates in California in 1982. I was from a small hick town and never had met anyone like these folks. They were great guys. They had lesbian friends who were also very cool.

I think gay men are sometimes efeminate which scares folks. Lesbian women are sometimes kinda manly also, but less of a threat for whatever reason.

I was a horticulturist when I lived down there and I would come home late and the guys would cook for me sometimes. One weekend they threw a party, I was in my flannel shirt an levis, and the other folks were transexual, Bi, any kind of different sexual person you can think of. I had fun, drank tequila and called it an experience., sorry ,of topic.

A lot of people (more so men) have watched porno.

Porno can sometimes consist of lesbians (whether or not they are "true" intentions). Of course in pornography physically attracting people are used for obvious reasons...I just think when men watch porn and see this, they see it as reality in the every day world.

On top of that, I think men and women would agree that the female sex is considered a "beauty", while a men is usually just some hunk of junk. That also helps the whole okay lesbian thing or whatever.

In the real world, it seems that gays and lesbians are on the same spectrum compared to a straight boy or girl. In the REAL world, I think many boys/girls are actually turned off by a gay or lesbian, even if the opposite sex.

As I said before, I believe it has a lot to do with girls making a quick and easy buck by doing a porno/make out movie.
