actually they tested xenoliths found within the laval flow, which showed massive ages and when the lava its self was dated the correct age was given, it was a test to see if testing xenoliths by accident could falsify the dating method as a warning to other scientists

and it was carried out on hawaian lava flows not mount st helens

unless your talking about the one where they ground up the rocks then set them for testing which falsified the data by grounding and including the xenoliths in with the lava, which was carried out by YEC *cough*scientists
