Alright, here's a tasty little subject that ATSers worldwide may be able to come to a conclusion on.

I was looking at MSN.com and they brought up a great debate point. I'd like to open it here at ATS.


Should the First Lady get paid?

You mean by the government? No. Why would she? Post a link to the article if you would truly like to discuss this matter.

No, and the president is overpayed. Think about it we don't want a greedy person to be our president, we want someone who has goals and ambitions that are not selfish. The first lady is just a wife, she isn't employed by us she shouldn't be payed by us. What does she exchange for the money she earns?

Does the first lady have a job? Last I checked the constitution the first lady held no constitutional authority. If she has no job then she needs no pay.

Absolutely not. They make public appearances and have little pet projects sometimes. Makes about as much sense to me as someone saying that I deserve to be paid for sitting at the house while my husband works and occasionally going out in public. (I'm a stay-at-home mom by choice.) If the First Lady isn't working somewhere then she doesn't need to get paid, and as far as I can recall none of them have while their husband was President. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that point.

She doesn't need a government salary. Besides she can make plenty of money sitting on the board of directors at companies simply because of "who she is". No experience needed!
