Chandra has made some observation of the galaxy cluster abell85 which was famous for its high density packing of galaxies and the gravitational lensing effects on hubble. It was thought that dark energy accelrates the growth of these structure, but this cluster only grew because of the gravity and this was stiffled by the dark energy.

. The growth of these structures was initially driven only by the attractive force of gravity, but then later there was competition with the repulsive force of dark energy.

So, it has been decided to observe more galaxy clusters.

Chandra was used to study the increase in mass of galaxy clusters with time over the last 7 billion years.

The advantage is to relativity,

Possibilities include the cosmological constant, equivalent to the energy of empty space, a modification in general relativity on the largest scales, or a more general physical field. To help decide between these

The cluster work, in combination with other studies, also provides the strongest evidence to date that dark energy is the cosmological constant, or that `nothing weighs something'.

Surprised no one replied to this.
Quite interesting.Guess for some it can make there head hurt having to read
something intellectual.

Just to let you know my first reaction to your thread title was how is this breaking news the universe has been here 5,000,000,000,000 years or something like that (who knows not me)but now dark energy is stifling it?RUN FOR THE HILLS RUN FOR YOUR LIFE...........edit ;I added the word title after thread because the post is interesting but the title is a little off putting for me.

Incredible work !!

I hope the math folks handle the shake up.

Gravity in Stars is held off the radiation and heat pressure.
See Chandrasekhar, "An Introduction To the Study Of Stellar Structure"
When the fission burns up all elements to iron, the pressure is no
longer supported and the star explodes into a proton core with
an electron gas on the surface.

Is dark energy from an aether pressure like from bar magnets.

The cluster work, in combination with other studies, also provides the strongest evidence to date that dark energy is the cosmological constant.

Or more accurately, 'The cluster work, in combination with other studies, also provides the strongest evidence to date that the cosmological constant represents dark energy.'

Now it makes sense.

Whatever the unseen energy is and how is behaves might
best be found in Tesla experiments.

The Ether (dark energy) of Tesla can be defined as an insulative
fluid with electrical carriers.

Tesla also considered radio and light worked in a medium such
that velocity is dependent on the inverse square root of the
medium density. So the ratio density of air to ether is the
square of the ratio of the velocity of light to the velocity of
sound in air.
