I thought that in "America the Great" only the people who can't afford it go to jail..i.e. If you've got the money you don't have to do the time.

right...

A thousand!!......just give me 10 other good ways then???

Well, there are far more than a thousand variations on not sending your shoe to the White House, and as I said, they would all be better ways to voice your opinion.

Posting on over a thousand different forums and message boards and NOT sending your shoe to the White House, for example.

I don't have to list every internet forum and message board, do I?

Even eating pizza (which I'm doing now) and NOT sending your shoe to the White House would be a better way to voice your opinion.
That opinion being, that many Americans would not stoop to the level of sending their shoe to the White House, and would instead partake in a nice sausage pizza.

Eating a Pizza?!
How much does that cost?! $15.00.

What I am simply doing is: putting an old pair of shoes in a box
mailing them to the Whitehouse. It's done. Mailed. Gone. On their way.
It cost $7.50

You'd rather spend $15.00 on a pizza and think you are voicing your
opinion. True patriot. Sausage too?!.. hmm.. I won't go there.

I'd rather spend $7.50 and place the responsibility of discarding,
my sweaty, disgusting, worn out, dirty and dingy shoes to the
Whitehouse.

That's what makes us different which in turn makes us human.
You are simply no better than anyone else on here. Congrats for
having the Patriotic Pizza Party. But don't dare go around playing
the stupidity judge.

The President was assulted. You think it is funny. I think you are offensive.

Change BUSH to OBAMA you would be screaming and still blame Bush.

Send shoes. It makes your sad life feel full...super.

This coming from someone who thinks waterboarding is NOT torture.
I think that is offensive. He was assaulted by a shoe. THAT'S FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No broken bones and no bleeding, otherwise go for it.

Haahaa, you are such a confused human being.
How full can your life be when you have no idea
where you stand.

I have been waterboarded and it is a much more efficent way to get information out of people, then beating people. you know the arabs way of torture taking your head off then posting it all over the web.

I think your problem is the condescending tone in your posts.

People have chosen to mail their shoes, who do you think you are going about judging them by that? Because in fact you are placing judgement. I'll explain that using "logic".

You call the action stupid, therefore what does that make the people who partake in the action?

You voiced your opinion, which is ALWAYS appreciated, yet you continue to prolong the debate on what was meant to be a light and humorous post. Furthermore, with every response, you grow more and more disrespectful. What does that say to me? That you obviously think that much more highly of yourself and you revel in attempting to prove that to those who are opposing you.

Grats on being 19, you're what? Less than a quarter of a century old. Maybe in your classroom you can pull off the high and mighty routine, but these forums aren't the kind of school you can just walk around with your chest puffed out like a rooster.

On topic:
I actually felt bad for Bush when they threw the shoe at him, it hurt me to see how some treat the President of our country. That's like if Queen Elizabeth decided to visit and our journalist decided to throw shoes at her, like HELLO SHE'S THE QUEEN.

Regardless of what blasphemies Bush has committed he is STILL POTUS, and will still be referred to as Mr. President even after he's out of office. I saw it as a sign of MAJOR disrespect.

But then again, and this was stated before in this thread, respect is earned, and he really hasn't done much to earn our respect either, so while I think it's sad that OUR country's most esteemed Ambassadorial position was basically spit upon, I'd still send the shoe, I don't think they'd get offended, or flip out and enact more anti-terrorism laws...in fact I think ol' Dubbya would find it kinda funny.

haha

What kind of ridiculous question is that? No one asked me to talk sense into people... Who asked you to send a shoe to the White House?...
I like talking sense to people because I haven't given up on humanity.

I do it because I don't like the image we're portraying and would rather not make it even worse (that's one of my reasons anyway...).

huh??...

It's not a great message for other countries to see that we are sending shoes to the White House. Not very united of the United States of America...
We will always have disagreements, but to voice your opinion in such an immature way does not send a good message.

Sending a shoe is blind anger??

It has to be.
Afterall, there's no logical reason to do it.

What, talking on internet forums with like minded people while eating pizza......don't see it, please explain

Well, many people would have a better view of a person who tries to convince others using logic and reason rather than someone rashly sending their shoe to the White House.
I can't 'explain it to you' if you refuse to see how silly it is...

Whatever.
Have fun sending those old shoes.
I hope you feel like you have accomplished something, atleast...

Besides p*ssing you off.....yeah i think it would accomplish something...

I'm not like you, I don't get pissed of that easily .
Don't worry, you won't find an old shoe in your mail box ...

You say it would accomplish something.
Would you mind explaining what and how?

Logic always trumps blind emotions.
That's a fact and I can't change it .
I mean no disrespect.

The action is stupid because of what it's based on - emotions. It's not thought through logically. I'm not attacking these people intellegence, I'm pointing out the fact that they aren't using it - which is very different once you think about it.

I made a point and then was attacked so I tried to explain my reasoning.

I really don't think I've been disrespectful (at least not as much as many on here are to me)...
I'm simply trying to show how illogical it is to send your shoe to the White House lol... It's not a hard concept, and no one has yet to explain what good it will do...

I think highly of logic and reason and those who use it. I'm not trying to say anything other than what I have said, and if those points are flawed then someone please explain to me how sending your shoe to the White House would make a positive difference.

See, now that was personal.
I made logical arguments which still stand.
Attack those arguments, not me.
I'm not trying to prove anything except how ridiculous this plan is...
I wish people would read my words instead of trying to devise some hidden agenda...
There's always a hidden agenda lol...

I suppose when someone makes a good point, no one thinks about the point, they just think the person is an arrogant jackass.
Learn something new everyday huh?

So you're not sending a shoe or anything else (incl. a message)...right??

What kind of ridiculous question is that? No one asked me to talk sense into people... Who asked you to send a shoe to the White House?...

Well acually roadgravel did. I thought it was a funny ,non violent way of showing your opinion. But please start talking sense anytime you see fit.

It's not a great message for other countries to see that we are sending shoes to the White House. Not very united of the United States of America...

I am from one of those other countries and believe me it wouldn't hurt the credibility of the american people if they did. As a matter of fact i do believe it is what we would do if it would concern us.

It has to be.
Afterall, there's no logical reason to do it.

Silly, non violent and yet stating your opinion in a clear way....

I'm not like you, I don't get pissed of that easily .
Don't worry, you won't find an old shoe in your mail box ...

You say it would accomplish something.
Would you mind explaining what and how?

When did i say it would accomplish something? If anything it would show your goverment that the american people are still a collective and they cannot be ignored. They amount of shoes rep. the amount of people that would stand up if any goverment would dare to ignore them.....or something like that. Believe me ,over here in the Netherlands we would do the same thing and everybody would send in their shoe.........

Your point might be valid, but the way you are coming across on this thread makes it seem as if you are trying to shove your opinion down everyone's throat.

A wise man once said "It's not what you say it's how you say it"

It would likely be the same kind of postal rate from here in the the UK too.

Rather than post a box of shoes, I'm just going to stamp a muddy shoeprint onto a peice of paper instead with a quote of "This is a farewell kiss, you dog" ....and will be more likely to get through mail screening to the whitehouse, whilst conveying the same message

I have yet to see any good arguments for sending your shoes to the White House...
You either refuse to think about what I've said or you honestly don't think that it would send a bad message for us to send old shoes to our own government...
Whatever.
I'm not a Republican or a Democrat, and I strongly disagree with a lot of what Bush has done - but that doesn't change the fact that this is pointless and is based on anger.
You're probably just as angry at me for pointing out how illogical it is .

I'm done here. Hopefully someone will realize that this is pointless.
And if not, God help the delivery truck which has to bear such a burdon ...
