Heh, take a look around... there's been some crazy # posted out there, stuff that they wouldn't like one bit.

Of course, it's nothing they don't already know, but... well... better safe than sorry

this attitude worries me. when the good guys are actually bad guys, we all have something to hide.

WOW

i was reading another thread about AboveTopSecret.com being a CIA/Freemason front, and i wanted to discuss the subject in the thread but the thread was closed by a moderator who claimed the subject was already throroughly discussed on ats ...

so i used the search button and found more than a couple other threads concerning the same topic and THIS thread was the only one that wasn't closed!

some other threads talk about John Lear mentioning that AboveTopSecret is a CIA organized construction! highly interesting, but that thread is closed! along with many more concerning this subject..

CONSPIRACY???? .. HELL YEAH!

open up those threads, what's to be afraid of abovetopsecret.com? you aren't REALLY CIA... are you?????

Yet, this thread is open for discussion as to whether or not ATS is a CIA front.

John Lear is lying. Keep in mind that John Lear is a former CIA employee who still has apparent hurt feelings from being post-banned from ATS. Let me say it again, when John Lear says anything about ATS and the CIA, he's lying.

what's to be afraid of abovetopsecret.com? you aren't REALLY CIA... are you?
No. Are you?

Thanks for bumping this old thread. Its always fun to see the responses whenever someone accuses ATS of being a CIA front.

My favorite is when someone suggested they put "Not a CIA front" in the header.

I think that should be the new ATS motto. Deny Ignorance is getting kinda old and since this site gets accused of this every few weeks anyway, maybe we should think of changing it to;

"We are not a CIA front. You can believe us, we wouldn't lie to you; just trust in the people who run this website who you've never met because they would tell you if they were funded by the CIA".

Maybe that is a little too long though.

besides, everyone knows its the NSA that really funds ATS...

I think a more appropriate question would be:

"Is the CIA or other Intelligence Agencies using ATS as a front without the site owners knowledge?"

All in all I don't think ATS would make a good front for the CIA. Because, well, just look at the topic of this thread. I understand the whole hiding in plain site mentality, but ATS being a front for an Intelligence Agency would be akin to wearing Hot Pink camo on a real military operation.

Now, I bet there are probably some forums on the net that are CIA fronts, but probably forums that wouldn't garner much interest or traffic.

Yeah, but if this is NOT a CIA front, then the CIA wont have access to IP addresses of people they suspect of "knowing too much", etc.

Only the administrator of ATS have access to IP address logs of every postings and IP address used for membership registration, records. If ATS is not a CIA front, I really doubt that ATS would give up such personally identifiable information to any foreign entity to theirs, plus it would be a violation of federal law for ATS to furnish IP addresses to any one without a court warrant. So, if you are here discussing anything that is not illegal, I dont think that any one has any reasons to be afraid, of course except if ATS is really owned by the CIA, which puts the CIA as the administrator of ATS and THEN there would be a reason of concern, but do we have any evidence to prove this?

Really? It's "fun" to see lies being spread about the good people who ensure this site stays up and civil?

Who cares if it is or isnt. These boogeymen arent as big as we all seem to think...they are only because we think and say they are...The worst they can do is damage your space suit (the body you live in now)

Thats it...thats a very limited amount of power. Hacking into your thoughts and beliefs is actually the worst and using tribal group think to reinforce the programs (Memetics)

at them...its actually worse to them than what they can do to you. They hate not having power or others doubting their power and especially laughing at the power they think they have.

Oh, no...not [this subject] again!
Well, at least we can be assured to hear from SO in these type threads and know that he is still alive and well and has not yet been taken in an alien abduction.

Yes, it is funny because most seasoned members don't take the allegations seriously and some of their responses are priceless.

Its only natural for a society of conspiracy theorists to ask this type of question every once and a while. Its what happens when you get a bunch of paranoid folks all together on a website; they think they might be getting set up.

I understand this is your website and you take pride in your baby but, you have to admit, the way the members react to the regular theory that ATS is a CIA front, with their usual wit and humor, can be entertaining at times.

Its only natural for paranoid lunatics like us to theorize that the places we congregate to discuss conspiracy theories may actually be out to get us. Please don't take it personally, its only a speculative theory and is not intended as an accusation against the ownership.

Does the CIA issue a tinfoil hat with recruitment...cause if not then I am thinking we are all pretty safe here on ATS...as safe as anyplace else on the Internet...although some porn sites claim to be pretty safe too and next thing you know you hard drive is crashing and you have viruses that don't even have names yet!

Anyway...who cares if the CIA is funding ATS...you are a member and maybe eventually some will be funneled down to us little guys!

I see what you are saying, but people that would "know too much" would be hiding behind so many proxies their IP addresses would be useless. Besides, this is the CIA we are talking about. They'd just find out where the servers are hosted and intercept the traffic.

not all of them, for example, an electrical scientist may have been working on a, for example, a free energy prototype and gone successful and then wishes to tell people, lets say, over ATS how he came up with his free energy device and he signs up and posts his schematic, etc. To this scientist he might, yes, know too much, but when it comes to computers me might only have limited knowledge so to say that the word "IP Address" might still be a "new" concept for him, and he thinks that he is truly anonymous behind his computer screen and totally lacks knowledge of applied networking and computers.

Or, lets say a 15 year old kid accidentally discovers free energy and simply logs in and post it. same results, lack of IP address knowledge, etc, etc

To be honest with you sir, I say that less than 5% to 10% of computer user are knowledgeable enough to use proxy servers and VPN's to hide their tracks when it comes to contributing in online forums regarding any "knowing too much" materials.

So, the bottom line here is that a scientist might know wayyy too much about ONE thing, but COMPLETELY lacks knowledge about the other thing (computers), in my opinion a dangerous ignorance if you ask me.

Currently I don't use any proxy servers/VPN's because none of my discussions here has been about any topics which might gripe any special interests groups, I am not doing anything illegal and I live in a country that supports freedom of speech.

uhhu?, so that's why the CIA/FBI and what you name it has NOT captured the famous hacker "anonymous", hey he is behind a bunch of proxy servers, but yep, he still remains untraceable as of now, so I guess you are wrong. Only if you use transparent proxy servers then its possible to reveal your IP address. Also, I have heard of a good VPN anonymous paid for service that you can subscribe to, there will be hundreds of people simultaneously making HTTP TCP and UDP requests on that server box, there would be no way for the CIA to know which of these request is the ones that interests them.
