If you live near Mt Baker, or know anyone who does, ESPECIALLY if they have access to or know someone who flies, has a Plane, Chopper please please check something out.

In response to an apparent unconfirmed "Melt" on top of Mt Baker an Volcano in the Cascades Region, which is worrying as it has a LARGE amount of Ice and snow there, close to major population centres.

Now as Mt baker holds more glacial and Snow deposits than the entire Cascade range of volcanoes combined on its own, if such a melt is occurring, and increases it is important for us to know.

Luckily Mt Baker is the most remote of all Volcanoes in the Cascades, SO DON'T WORRY, and REMEMBER THIS IS A REPORT FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY AND WORD OF MOUTH!

The Towns nearby with members, or people friends who may be able to investigate this are as follows:

The Mt. Baker Foothills area covers the eastern part of Whatcom County, in Washington State.
The towns and communities of
Nugents Corner,
Acme,
Deming,
Everson,
Glacier,
Kendall,
Maple Falls,
Nooksack,
Nugents Corner,
Sumas, and
Van Zandt are all a part of the 'Foothills' area.

The Closest Major city is Seattle, where the Mountain can be seen from.

We need to confirm if in-fact this is happening now!

THIS IS ONLY SECOND HAND UNCONFIRMED INFORMATION AT PRESENT

However let's find out sharpish if in-fact this is so!

The information states that
I'll tell you one thing though - if you get a chopper and fly over that Mt, there WILL be a bald spot on once side
Source

However this Live Webcam shows this side is normal, though I have no idea which side this is from? anyone?

The Thread can be found here, please read and if in the area confirm or not this information!

Impending Earthquake/Volcanic Activity-California Area

Hopefully we can with the wide membership of ATS and readers confirm if this report is correct and is so get the word out!

Kind Regards,

Elf.

CASCADES VOLCANO OBSERVATORY WEEKLY UPDATE Friday, December 12, 2008 10:07 PST (Friday, December 12, 2008 18:07 UTC) Cascade Range Volcanoes Volcano Alert Level: NORMAL Aviation Color Code: GREEN Activity Update: All volcanoes in the Cascade Range are at normal levels of background seismicity. These include Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams in Washington State; Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, Three Sisters, Newberry Volcano, and Crater Lake, in Oregon; and Medicine Lake volcano, Mount Shasta, and Lassen Peak in northern California. Mount St. Helens has been at Volcano Alert Level NORMAL (Aviation Color Code GREEN) since July 10, 2008, a change assigned 5-6 months after the late January cessation of its 2004-2008 eruption. Recent Observations: All Cascade volcanoes remain seismically very quiet. Mount St. Helens continues to receive close attention despite its NORMAL alert status. A major winter storm is expected this weekend in the Northwest, and high winds could produce some seismic noise. The U.S. Geological Survey and University of Washington continue to monitor these volcanoes closely and will issue additional updates and changes in alert level as warranted. You may actually be right, check this link out www.mbvo.wwu.edu...
They have just created a recent eruptions page on the official Mt. Baker Volcanic Study Page. Looks like there has been some activity going on too bad it doesn't give it a date like the others. This site is pretty new hence their Data page isn't even finished yet.

Also just because it isn't currently active or hasn't had any seismic activity for over 2 weeks doesn't mean anything. There was about a month between an earthquake and the one that triggered Mt. St. Helens Eruption.

Thanks for the link.

Found some interesting (although very dry) reports and abstracts.

I may make a trip out that way soon just for fun.

Regardless of if it is active or an imminent eruption is present or not. I personally appreciate the fact that you would be so kind as to offer a warning or heads up call. You did not state it was factual and said it was third party info, so I consider what you have done as a global community service. Thanks for the heads up and please do not hesitate to tell us anything like this you should ever hear. Our government does have this small habit of not telling us the truth or hiding pertinent information from us, so I for one really appreciate your concern although I live almost 2500 miles to the east of there.

Thanks again for your concern.
