Hey!! Considered that Bush was being thrown with shoes while Clinton was being thrown at by 7.62 rounds at the White House back in the 90s, I say Bush
had it easier.

Having watched the video I'd have to wonder, with regards the near immediate dismissal of security and seeming further interest in the "situation", whether or not his interests were more focused on the questions, complaints and concerns of the individual or moreover That of Let's see what happens next...
Just had that feel...
Yep, he did handle it well, and seemed to defuse the situation a bit, telling everyone to calm down, and sit down, to carry on.
Must say the only time I have ever been impressed with anything GW did...
I had a thought watching it reminded me a little bit of back in school, Like a food fight, imagine if another Iraqi in there had followed his lead!!
Within seconds 100 odd pairs of shoes reigning down on him!
The first assassination attempt ever by shoes...

Thats a very good question. Why didn't he throw a bomb?

A bomb would have been more insulting than shoes.

Probably because he was not allowed. After all the Secret Service are looking for weapons, not shoes. Or it could all be a setup since the Secret Service was slow to react, they didn't shoot the "journalist" when he threw an object that could have been perceived as a grenade, and Bush told the Secret Service to not to arrest him and take him to Gitmo.
