Not that this should surprise anyone. Just when you thought you couldn't get more screwed then we already are.

He might want to earmark a non-impeachable clause in one of these last minute regs. Makes me sick beyond sick that from 8 years of highway robbery we have a life time of recouping... assuming we don't fall apart as a nation. What have we learned from this experience or what do we need to learn from this experience? anyone anyone?

Every Administration in my memory has done this. This administration's choices are no surprise (I hope).

Hopefully most of the damage can be undone early on.

I wonder if a law could be passed so that if a corrupt leader takes office and hijacks the country like Bush did, the next president can undo the damage that had been done (patriot act, etc.) no matter what catch 22 Bush came up with to 'lock it in.'
The next obvious question would be, would any president want to, or have the guts to do it?

TO bad we can't just abolish all the laws made to date aside from the Constitution and start from scratch, yah it would suck but it will undo alot of crap thats wrong now. Maybe better minds can restructure and write better laws with out all the loop holes. To bad I want to live in a dream world instead of reality were only idiots get elected for themselves instead of their fellow citizens.

Rollingstone
While every modern president has implemented last-minute regulations, Bush is rolling them out at a record pace — nearly twice as many as Clinton, and five times more than Reagan. "The administration is handing out final favors to its friends," says Véronique de Rugy, a scholar at George Mason University who has tracked six decades of midnight regulations. "They couldn't do it earlier — there would have been too many political repercussions. But with the Republicans having lost seats in Congress and the presidency changing parties, Bush has nothing left to lose."

You want to list some that has you worried, or is this your final F.U. to Bush?

A retired president is basically a neutered president. Personally I don’t like Bush very much, but I bet I can run through endless posts of predictions of a dictatorship, NWO etc that will all come to not.

A lot of wasted energy there people, and I hope you all learn from it.

Is this all you are worried about?

Under the last- minute rules, which can be extremely difficult to overturn, loaded firearms would be allowed in national parks, uranium mining would be permitted near the Grand Canyon and many injured consumers would no longer be able to sue negligent manufacturers in state courts. Other rules would gut the Endangered Species Act, open millions of acres of wild lands to mining, restrict access to birth control and put local cops to work spying for the federal government.

Why the fuss? Bush is doing God's work in God's country. What he is establishing is what freedom loving people want and need.

Because when you love freedom, you understand and know that all people are freedom loving people. Marching and advancing freedom will keep the terrorists on the run. They seek to destroy us. The only way is to destroy all of them, so we can love freedom...as a people.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible. No matter who the president is, the opposing faction is going to demonize them as corrupt and power hungry and due to petty inter-party infighting, that law will be used to try to undo all the work of every president we have from there on out as soon as they've vacated the office. You'd have to put in some sort of special stipulation requiring a 3/4 majority vote to enact the law, and even in that case - you couldn't get the current senate and congress to come to a 3/4 vote consensus on retconing Bush's actions over the last 8 years.

Are you telling us that God is a moron? I don't think so. Could it be that we need to give up a few states for the creation of "The Republic of Jesustan" so people can experience their "personal relationship" without having to worry about all the people using reasoning to advance the condition of humanity?

This will actually be a first test for Obama. Obama can overturn Presidential Orders if he wishes. Will he?

Given that most of these PO's were implemented via stealth, not many people in the wider society would have great knowledge of them, hence, Obama has not and probably will not be challenged on their repeal.

Lesson No:1
When your president starts acting against the people he is sworn to serve, PROTEST, PROTEST, PROTEST!

Lesson No:2
When your president begins to embarrass and humiliate your nation internationally, oust him, or at least try to!

Lesson No:3
When your media blatantly hides the truth from you, misleads you and treats you like brain dead sheep, and obviously under guidance from government, remove them from your screens!

While I know that a lot of Americans on this forum are intelligent, the majority of America is completely oblivious to the truth. As such, they are to blame for everything that is happening right now and everything that has happened due to Bush being your president.

You can tell me I am wrong all you like, but what your media doesn't tell you (and I'm sure you find this on the web) is that the vast majority of the planet thinks that Americans are completely dumb for allowing Bush to do what he's done to you and your nation, and the rest of the world for that matter. Are so many billions of people wrong? Or is it that America is in denial?

If Americans could do one thing right now to become more intelligent and to actually see what is happening, they'd turn off their "news" (propaganda) channels and start reading what is out here on the net. They'd start to realize that the world isn't just their back yard in which they can play war games and dig for treasure.

I'm hoping that Obama retains his energy and isn't swallowed up by the power-mad people who usually pull the strings, but a part of me thinks he'll be no different. And if that's the case, I know America will just lie back and take it, while switching channels between Jerry Springer and CNN.

Freedom is fairly subjective. Back in the 1980s, I had many friends in the Republic of South Africa. They wanted freedom, but certain U.S. politicians (like Jesse Helms) were fighting tooth and nail to deny them their freedom for the sake of "freedom". That is when I learned the bitter truth: When conservatives say "freedom" they mean economic freedom. They usually have a VERY narrow education and are not aware that in certain regions, there isn't much of an economy. The people just want the ability to elect whoever they want to lead them. If they are Marxist, so be it. My view is: political freedom first, then widen the market. Look what that's done for India.

A Parting Shot at Women’s Rights

A parting gift to the far right, the new regulation aims to hinder women’s access to abortion, contraceptives and the information necessary to make decisions about their own health. What makes it worse is that the policy is wrapped up in a phony claim to safeguard religious freedom.

...that was short lived... SuperMan to the rescue...
Obama Lifts Stranglehold on Women's Health

With the stroke of a pen, President Obama today has lifted the stranglehold on women's health across the globe. His repeal of the Mexico City Policy (the global gag rule) ends eight long years of policies that have blocked access to basic health care for women worldwide. No longer will health care providers be forced to choose between receiving family planning funding and restricting the health care services they provide to women.

Now if Obama can reverse the damage in the middle east, he would be truly superhuman...

Saudi Prince: Bush Left "Sickening Legacy" In Middle East

Saudi Arabia's ex-ambassador to Washington said former President George W. Bush left a "sickening legacy" in the Middle East and warned that U.S.-Saudi relations would be at risk if the Obama administration doesn't change America's policy in the region.
