Apocalyptic currencies!
I was thinking,
What currencies would survivors of a nuclear war, or survivors of an apocalyptic event use as a currency?
Also who would create the rules and keep the world or survivors in order?
There is a posability this could happen so keep posts clean and on topic!
Being a survivor what would you do and use in this situation?

i think it would go to a barter system. i mean when you have no economy what will a ton of gold get you anyway?
so itll come down to supply and demand
ex: ill trade you my carton of cigarettes for your bottle of whisky.
or
well as inhuman as this sounds you can't forget that in a post-apocto world people are still people therefore you could see situations like these
ex a bushel of carrots for a night with your wife,
anywho my 2 cents carry on

I'm going to say...
Bottle Caps is the most logical answer.
No, but really. Barter system most likely.

Currency? No no no. A bartering system would most likely be the system of choice. At least until they "rebuilt".
I could explain why, but it should be fairly obvious.

Well I would have to say the biggest problem would be getting established. There would be mass chaos and the only way to controll the masses or make
the rules is the same as in civilized society.
FEAR
Whoever has the most people, guns and resources makes the rules. As far as the currency, everyone has the logical answer. Bartering would be the
only way as some people would find certain articles more important than others. The obvious is water, food, clothing and shelter.
What's pathetic is to think that people would actually trade for addictions such as cigarettes and drugs is pathetic but it would be an
actuality. Alcohol could have its benefits as a pain reliever along with prescription drugs bit I still can see the useless people of society delving
further into lawlesness when supplies are limited than they do today while we still are a functioning society.
So basically you need your entire family to have firearms with ammunition and know how to use them, a strategy and work from there. If you're not
alive or can't defend yourself, the rest is useless

There probably would be a bartering system however, i think that people could create some sort of currency! A currency which will never drop down in
price or go up.
Any thoughts on what type of people would rule the survivors in countries over the world?
Or would there be one ruler to rule them all?

Eventually there would be. I don't disagree. But if all the governments in the world are defunct, there is not only no way to enforce the value, but
the people themselves will not have any reason to believe in the value of the money.
Only when the world is rebuilt, would currency be put back in to place. And for the record, the is no such thing as a static currency, simply because
of the very nature of the ideas behind currency.
As for the "rulers", there would be no official rulers. There would only be small groups of people, with no actual bureaucratic government.

1. Bottle caps.
2. Nuka cola.
3. Glowing water?
The world will be a broken place, again.
Tribal politics will have to be reinvented.
Many bandits, like in all times - they will have no need to trade.

Yes, Fallout. And I especially liked the Hubb(ard)ologists
But seriously, currency need an authority to guarantee its value. Before that, it needs a monopolist over a certain kind of good, if bartering takes
place. It is a very political thing.
Otherwise, nobody would really need currency

I'd like to think that we'd get some kind of mutual bartering system going, that's a popular idea and probably the most practical. Although the
cold, cynical part of me says that we're just going to end up vying for power like African warlords, taking what we want by force and the hell to
anyone who gets in our way. you've got to remember, we're still animals deep down and when society goes legs up it won't take long for us to start
going feral again.

If there was a nuclear war or whatever something big most of things people are naming wouldn't survive along with humans and the ones who do survive
cash would be the last thing there thinking about.
If we really experienced something of a Apocalyptic nature we would be living like cavemen nothing of value would survive
Rocks, stones and stuff like that would be the currency at last for the first few years. It surly wouldn't be gold silver or any metal because most
people wouldn't have them and how would you get more if everything is destroyed there would be no supplies to mine with and most people don't know
how to mine, it may actually end up sort of like a utopia where everybody helps the village/community as a whole until some idiot wants to become
greedy and messes it up for everybody then where back to the previous situation that started the nuclear event.
