yeah your link isn't working, but I think I saw that pic too. i was like yeah! score one for the protesters!

They aren't just an unruly mob, don't try and paint them as such. they're rioting because of alleged police brutality, and economic oppression. 2 things commonly sited here in the ATS forums, but that our citizens are far to passive to do anything about.
try this link

and pay attention to this quote...
"Financial targets are being attacked — like banks — to prove a point of economic oppression ... some people hardly have enough eat," said Constantinos Sakkas, a 23-year-old protest organizer.
"We're against the attacks on small stores," he added. "The purpose of all this is for our demands to be heard. This just isn't for us. It's for everyone."

Ok, link is fixed.

To Warrenb,

After the policeshooting they have very few things how they can defend them self from protestors... I think its schoking that you can throw molotov coctail towards police without getting shot... With something. Then you see that both sides have gasmasks... Where that would lead?

You know... with the world seemingly going out of control... the financial crisis, on the brink of world war 3... it almost seems like all the cards are stacked against us.

Why do we treat other human being so? We are all in this together, so why not treat everyone else with dignity, respect... instead of bickering, and harming each other we should embrace peace, and humanity. Help, and love your neighbor, and you shall receive love in return. when we become violent, we let them win because in return they continue the cycle of violence and control.

And do not think that this is idealistic, and not achievable and its up to some imaginary hero to come save the human species from ourselves. You are the hero yourself, you are humanities knight in shining armor.

Peace and change starts within you.

I hope they shot that punk kid, he deserves it. I'm all for a good protest to make a stand and to get something accomplished but thats not what these guys want. At this point, theyre nothing but terrorists.
It isnt even about revenge or rage, by this time theyve just adopted a mob mentality and the only thing they want accomplished, is to create as much chaos as possible.
I bet 90% of the people out there terrorizing the streets could care less about what happened a few days ago that set off protests.
Theyve already jailed two cops for the original shooting, so what else can they hope to accomplish by hurdling fire bombs at everyone?
Theyre terrorists and they should be treated as terrorists.

Wow that was a pretty good throw.

One more line so that my post contains the level of quality expected by the staff and moderators here at ATS.

Well fair enough I say...

If the Police act ABOVE the law, expect some street justice.

Besides he probably wasn't hurt too much either, the suits are pretty much flame proof.

I expect a ton of people to insult me here, but i've witnessed police brutality first hand, and i know that being a police officer is just a job these days. No passion exist where the police want to catch criminals for the good of humanity...

They are doing it for the money, plain and simple.

Besides, the 15 year old kid isn't gonna come back is he?

But i bet that copper is back on the beat tomorrow...

Good shot i say.

--

Sick of the growing global police state, it's like trying to stuff twenty cats in a box, one too many and you're gonna get scratched.

Expect more of this - WHY?

Because if we do not respond, we will become cattle....

On a human level, I feel for the officer. On an objective level, I feel for the protesters. I am torn.

What went on that the riot officer's suit went up like a flambe?

Molotov cocktail lands at his feet... his fire retardant suit goes up in flame?

Maybe I'm missing something here.

Regardless of the dynamics of the fire, it does appear that the officer was not seriously injured despite his having been covered with burning gasoline.

I know first-hand how people who are on fire react and this officer was able to remain calm, so that his colleagues could come to his aid. I doubt that this was a comfortable experience or that he escape completely unscathed.

I don't know a lot about the unrest in Greece, but I don't feel that throwing fire bombs at the police is justified and I hope that the perpetrator of this crime is arrested and brought to justice.

Those Molotovs are pretty nasty... Watch this video, notice the huge (darting?) flame at 0:09 sec youtube.com...

Just wanted to say that many posters here are huge cowards and hypocrytes, they all cry for revolts, "calls for action", "when are we starting to fight back", brag with their big guns, "come and take it" etc., and when in other parts of the world some folks do exactly that, the formerly bad bad PTB are now poor police forces and they cry how one can be so unhuman to attack those people like you and me that only try to enforce the law. Disgusting!!

Hey, the cops have guns, the protesters need something...

I really can't get too emotionally involved in the Greek/EU anarchist riots, it's not a fight I have a dog in.

That's one reason I'd never want to be a cop though - you end up defending a government so hated & corrupt that the citizenry wants to burn you alive

So trying to severely injure one officer who was just doing his job and following orders was justified?

Hope that a-hole got a baton in the head for that one

Protesting is fine until they start doing stupid crap like this

Ahhh the smell of bacon frying of a morning... admittedly in bad taste... but someone had to say it.

All I can say is, you piss people off enough and they'll throw burning combustibles at you. Not really all that shocking to me.

So what you are saying is peaceful protest is the only answer?

That's BS and you know it, the government LIKE peaceful protests because it doesn't threaten them one inch.

That's why it's become a buzz word amongst the hippies and lefties, that peaceful protest will solve everything...

Simply not true.

When hitler was threatening Europe, if we'd have just sat in a field and done some deep breathing, then we'd all be speaking german right now.

There'd be a giant golden eagle on the ATS logo too.

Well you do realize that officers "doing their job" is how this whole thing started right?
Yes, justified when you when you are trying to stand up to a legitimate cause.

Well as long as he doesn't get shot which seems to be the trend for officers in greece.

You MUST work for the Illuminati.

Protesting doesn't really do much, until stuff like this happens. Think of all the press and discussion these events are getting just based off this one firebomb. But yer right, we should all be well behaved little robots who never step out of line or bite back at the powers that be. When has that ever gotten anyone anywhere?

Thats exactly what deserves to happen to him and it would be a justified action as well.
What, do you think throwing a fire-bomb at a cop should warrant the same response as a water-balloon or even a small stone would?

Once the gas is poured into the bottle and the cloth is put into the neck of it, its considered a deadly weapon.
Like I said, these kids are committing terrorist acts under the guise of a participating in a protest.
Isnt the idea of a "normal" protest, to achieve something or obtain some kind of goal?
All they seem to want to achieve is commiting more terror and creating more chaos.
Two of the cops responsible for the kids shooting have already been arrested, so it seems that the local Govt are handling the issue like they should.

Why no pictures of the rioter shot dead in the street? Him and his buddy.

The cops should have finished those punks right then. Sickening. And even more sickening is the people on these boards that think its all a great idea!
