Is it possible to put air to air missiles facing towards aft, by keeping the missiles far in the back section of the 747 kept in an internal bays.
That way the 747 can defend itself if a hostile aircraft was behind its 6, and the 747 can fire a missile that would be guided by a radar in the tail
section before the missile activates its own radar. Also the 747 can carry missiles that fires forward if a hostile is at its 12 o'clock.

With all the new tech for head mounted huds and off bore tracking shoots with highly agile sidewinders and the like I'm sure its possible. The issue
would be the launching into the slipstream around the plane while its backwards. I'm sure it could be over come though.

Not sure why you'd want missiles on a 747. Use assets like the F-35 and F-22 to establish air superiority.

The ABL has to be pretty close to the FEBA to hit missiles int he boost phase. I believe the OP was looking at a flying battleship similar to Dale
Browns Megafortress concept which invisioned a large aircraft with the ability to defend itself and even undertake offensive missions.
Edit to add: If you want to load it up with stand off weapons like the CALCM you could free up the BUFFS for other fun and games
