Huge H5N1 Infection being Investigated in Northern India

A strain of Bird Flu with potential similarities to the spanish outbreak, in that it can cause death within hours of infection (in birds so far) is being investigated in North eastern India, around the Assam area and very close to a main city of Guwahati.

The quickness of the new outbreak, and its apparent marked change in infection and mortality may herald a mutation having occurred, or a mix of strains.

Until lab reports come back an emergency cordon has been placed around the area, and specialists are on there way to better identify this unusual behaviour within the virus.

This spread has happened after an initial outbreak of apparently normal Bird Flu H5N1 resulted in the culling of 40,000 birds in November.

Almost a fortnight after India declared itself free of avian flu, preliminary reports have confirmed a fresh outbreak of the virus in Hajo block of Kamrup district in Assam where more than 200 poultry birds have died since last Saturday.Nov 27

Then:

Authorities in Assam have culled some 40,000 poultry of an estimated 60,000 birds ordered to be killed after an outbreak of the deadly bird flu virus in the region, officials Monday said.”Culling operations are on in the district of Kamrup since Friday and so far about 40,000 chickens and ducks were killed,” said Manoranjan Choudhury, deputy director of the Assam Veterinary department.Dec 1st

However it is spreading and seems to be killing them instantly!!!:

A veterinary department official said up to 300 chicken and ducks died an unnatural death in some villages around Hajo, about 35 km west of Assam’s main city of Guwahati. “We have sent samples for laboratory tests to Pune and Bangalore for confirmation. We don’t know for sure if the poultry deaths were due to bird flu,” a veterinary department official said requesting not to be named. Authorities Wednesday imposed a ban on sale of poultry and have sounded a general alert in about 40 villages in a radius of five kilometers from the area where the deaths were reported. “By Thursday we shall be getting the laboratory test reports and maybe we have to start the culling process as there has been large-scale reports of deaths coming in from nearby areas,” Kamrup district magistrate R.C. Jain said. “We have imposed a ban on sale and purchase of poultry and have asked people in the area not to consume chicken or duck as a precautionary measure.” A general health alert was also sounded in the area. Teams of experts are now camping in the area and were contemplating culling birds as a precautionary measure. Residents of the area said a large number of birds were falling sick. “We saw normal birds dying almost instantly without any symptoms. Now we find some of the poultry in the area a little sick,” said Biswa Das, a villager.)

Event Description

That's not good the no symptoms and dropping dead, at all.

It seems this strain is new or spreading very quickly with all the precautions and culling over the last two weeks, and the 4 hour infection to mortality reminds me of the previous human pandemics.

One to keep an eye on!

Kind regards,

Elf

I am finding it harder to believe that these are normal outbreaks!
It seems that these birds are getting a little help from someone ,but I
can not prove it. Just seeing the outbreaks come all of a sudden and they are getting more virulent.

Its certainly the time of year for such Bird Flu outbreaks,

However as you point out Biological and Virus outbreaks do seem to be on the up at the moment.

A new type of Blue Tongue is also in the UK at the moment:

A new strain of the animal disease bluetongue has appeared in the UK after infected cattle were brought into the country, the Government has said.

This is Lancashire

And also:

TWO CHILDREN with typhoid fever are being treated in the high dependency paediatric unit at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

The Courier

In Africa Cholera seems to be rampant at the moment too.

This is my concern with the Aids issue too. If a populations immune system is compromised with an existing outbreak of a disease and then H5N1 infects such a host population the chance of a mutation occuring that could make it more easily transmitable between humans is increased.

Kind Regards

Elf.

Im a firm believer that one day a resident evil scenario will happen.

as my Nan says "never say, never" corporates are to blame no dout in my mind, i dont have proof like that guy said but still it doesent just happen.

there is always human intervention, and with all these toxins in food and animals makes you think what the hell is going on?
