I consider myself a man of above average intelligence, I have spent most of my adult life serving in the military where I was promoted quickly and was fortunate to serve under some outstanding officers and with some outstanding and professional soldiers. I may not be well versed on some topics so I turn to the members who possess that knowledge. I have the ability to be able to debate without raising my voice and I will never try and derail a thread because I have a lack of knowledge of a subject but it seems like there is alot of that here because some feel that they know it all and sadly they do not. I will always admit when Im wrong and I usually post only if I feel that I am familiar with a topic.

I want to get the responses of the the members here about why Obama scares you as our new president and YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED to use the logic its because he is black, That is not a reason and it shows how narrow minded you are and I personally would like to see the intelligence that I have come across here because to be totally honest here Im tired of the Obama threads even though Im being quite the hypocrite right now but I have not seen many threads that put him in good light and I want to know what scares you because he cant do much worse than that George now can he?

This is a no flame thread because flaming usually leads to nothing getting accomplished

Im looking forward as well and a healthy debate will be fun, I just have spent so much time in the military that there is alot I have missed because while I was overseas I kept my opinions to myself about our CINC and did my job and never got into a politics debate or like I said spoke my mind, I followed orders and did my job...

He scares me because I think he is a Socialist and I think Socialism doesn't work.

I also find Obama leaning towards Socialism. I have been raised to work hard and then earn your keep. I just find that Socialism rewards the lazier group of population. I can understand disabled citizens who need financial support, but the lazy sector of society mooches off of the socialist ideals. There will always be exceptions to the rules, but avarice in society has grown. For example, health insurance is a good topic. I find there are a few groups in society that pertain to the topic. There are those who don't have health insurance, because they are to lazy to get a job, cannot find a job, have a job and will not buy a insurance plan, those who have a job and buy the insurance plans, and those who have a job that holds benefits. Again, I understand disability and job loss(in this economy), but if you are to lazy or to stupid to save for an insurance plan(by spending on extra wants, not needs), I do believe these people deserve any help. At the same time, taking money from the upper class and giving it to the lower class is wrong in my opinion as well. Think of it as most of the upper class owns businesses. In this struggling economy, even these business owners are having trouble keeping their doors open. If they cannot stay open, you will not have a job or benefits in the first place, because they supply the majority of jobs. Many of the upper class also worked hard for their money, and i don't find it correct to take more of their hard earned money than the next guy. So taking money and giving it to the lower class is a bad idea, because most will spend their money on unnecessary wants and the job totals will fall. I see it as most of the lower class mooching off of free money and benefits that they do not necessarily deserve. That is the root of socialism, and therefore the root of some of Obama's ideals.

Good thread buddy!

Well, I have preached civic mindness on this site before as I am a huge proponent of community both small and large...

But his ACORN affiliation concerns me somewhat...some of the reform they propose is quite radical...there should be NO "requirement" for community service...either everyone is on board or it becomes a voluntary service...

He has ties to a few other radical players out there, but what exactly did the American people want..? Change - so buyer beware...Nothing at that level (hell, any level) is what it seems...if you can't read between the lines, decipher what is BS and what is worth your time, or decipher what others say on a national and global stage, then you should STFU and leave it to the those that took the time to study up...

If someone is actually scared of what this man will do when he takes office, then I suggest that they take a look back on every presidency prior and take note of their affiliations, their stances prior and after inaguration - you will find that the office of the presidency is and always will be an enigma...

You want a president that everyone loves..? We would be in deep trouble if ALL American citizens chose/believed in/worshipped the same individual...those that fear Obama are as necessary as the skeptics on this site - they provide a different perspective that contributes to advancement of any idea or ideology...

I look forward to our future as a Nation - I fear nothing in this regard as any change from the prior admin. is welcome...

He's a nice, thoughtful, easygoing guy. He doesn't scare me.

The direction our country is headed in is ruined economy and war on many fronts. He's not going to steer us anywhere new and anyone that thinks so is falling for this same stuff.

George W. Bush said he didn't believe in "Nation Building" during his debates. That would have been nice huh.

This is the exact same thing all over again. Just another lying politician.

Real change was needed in 2008. Things are starting to pile up.

But that's the first thing I've said on this subject.

That said afraid is not the right word when you see it coming. I felt the same way about Obama as I did about Mccain. They are status quo and the status quo is war, debt, and economic stupidity.

Why does Obama Scare Me?

Well scare is not a good word, but for the purpose of this thread I shall acquiesce to that verbiage.

1. I would like to believe that the American people are a thoughtful and well considered people. So when I observe throngs of citizens chanting anyones name, especially a politician, it scares me. Instead of thoughtful consideration, I saw masses of people the likes of which I have not seen except on old film clips of Nazi Germany. This scares me.

2. I see a politician emerge from what is quite possibly one of the most corrupt political systems in America, namely Chicago Illinois, promising that he will make a "change" in the entire country, when he made no impact on his home constituency whatsoever. In his home I did not see a reduced crime rate, I did not see a better economic condition or any positive changes at all. Yet the American People are falling all over themselves to believe he can change an entire country. Actions speak far louder than words, where are his actions? I have never believed in using the word "Sheeple", but suddenly it is becoming appropriate.

3. I again see a politician with direct ties to individuals that openly and honestly hate the country I so love. Terrorists that have bombed my country and made statements that "They did not do enough". I see a country of people that don't care that this is true and ignore the political double talk during the rare occasion this politician was asked about this.

4. I see an American public that falls all over itself when a Vice Presidential Candidate makes a silly comment about seeing Russia from her home state, yet defends the opposing candidates assertion of 57 states. When I cry hypocrisy, I am shouted down. I have never trusted a hypocrite.

5. I see an economy that is on a down swing and having worked my whole life to be successful, I can weather this with no problem. Until Obama begins his tax increases; at which time I will be punished for being successful and others will be rewarded for not working.

6. I also see a country conditioned to blame every single woe on a sitting president and yet all the while preparing itself to make excuses for why the "New" president can't do what he promised. I have heard all of the excuses all ready being primed up and set in motion. Again, I cry Hypocrite.

7. I see an American public that as sick as they may be of a sitting administration, are vastly more sick of the House and Senate with historically low ratings. Yet that same public places in the Presidency the same political house that has managed to destroy our economy in the two years they have been in power. I see people all day long making excuses why this is not the fault of the now democrat controlled house and Senate, yet none of what they say makes any sense and they will never explain how our economy was booming prior to putting the Democrats in control in 06. More double talk, more hypocrisy.

Now for a bit of good.

Obama's choices for his cabinet have been the one bright spot on what was becoming a dark and dismal two years.

I can only hope it is enough.

Semper
