As I'm taking a Vegas trip over Christmas, I thought I'd check out Red Rock Canyon for a potential driving trip as it's less than 20 miles from the strip.

I was idly scanning the Yahoo satellite image of the visitors center, when I noticed that selected vehicles in the parking lot appear to have been blacked out.

It seems strange, take a look and see what you think (apologies for the big link) and you'll need the highest level of zoom.

The link's not working, btw. Nothing strange appears in the Google version.

That's strange, I clicked on it after I posted and it worked fine.

Apologies, for now you'll have to self navigate, the canyon is marked on the map about 17 miles west of the strip.

The visitor's center is a large building out in the middle of nowhere, can't figure out the link.

What is it we are supposed to see? There are cars and a parking lot. Maybe there are ET squirrels running around in those bushes...

Change the maps mode to "Satellite". Then start zooming in slowly. On the right you should see a parking place with a black rectangle there.

it might be a car with a dark interior, although i suspect it's the monolith from "2001: a space odyssey", because of all those recently evolved hominids beating each other with bleached femurs. who knows.

Looked at Google Earth and online, all I see are shadows. Buildings make rectangular shadows. I see nothing sinister or even suspicious.

BTW: link provided doesn't work. Used long and lat from your link.

It was the cars, some of them look to have been "blobbed" out.

Some in the rearmost row, and then some in the row closest to the visitors center.

I thought they were shadows at first, but to my untrained eye they have been covered up.

Has anyone ever compiled a list of Yahoo/Google Earth locations that have been blacked out, that would be very useful.
