As I've mentioned elsewhere, it's known there was a coup d'etat by 3 generals in March 2008. Mugabe was prepared to step down but is still being kept nominally head of state, to give the appearance of legitimacy.

In his statements to the media, he of course points the finger at the British, rather than taking responsibility for his own corruption and gross mismanagement.

The African Union, particularly South Africa, reticently feel obliged to show
solidarity. They don't want to set a precedent for forced external regime change. Total collapse of all systems is inevitable, but no one wants to throw Mugabe out physically. Everyone is just watching and waiting, as the poor people of Zimbabwe suffer and die.

Mugabe is a total despot and should be strung up from the nearest lampost. This man has been spouting anti-British retoric since he came to power ..... he has lost the plot. What this man has done to his country is criminal and insane. I hope this bastard gets what he deserves ..... a not very nice death.

Mugabe is always blaming the british on this..uk is hardly a beacon of morality but it still isnt doing anything in zimbabwe...not much resources...mugabe has just been living in his bubble for so long he has completely lost touch with reality,i dont think hes actually insane as some people would like to believe...and getting rid of him wont do much...the folks that surround him are just as bad if not worse and will gladly replace him.
