i am looking for some help and advice to fix my computer.

when i try to do a google or yahoo search the results keep coming up with the same addresses no matter what i search for.

so i am guessing i have a virus that is redirecting my searches.
here are two screen shots so you can see what i mean...

i have run every filter i can thin of and nothing seems to be debugging this problem.

i have tried

Embarq antivirus scan

AVG malware filter

RegRun security- trojan root kit detection
www.mininova.org...

i also have turned off my restore function so that i am not reinfecting the computer.

does anyone know how to fix this ? i would greatly appreciate any help

Does your browsers address bar actually say, www.google.com? If not, copy and paste this into your browser, download and install the scanner.

Have you tried SpyBot Search & Destroy?

Its a free application that I personally have used and found to be extremely good at what it does.

www.safer-networking.org...

It will take some time to scan your pc so let it run and have a cuppa.

Let me know if this helps.

It couldn't hurt. But I wouldn't unless I was still having issues.

Here's another good one that will find stuff...

Malware Anti Malwarebytes

Most people suggest starting your PC in Safe Mode and running this.

thanks for the help and advice Lanimilbus and i may have to re install fire fox since my internet explorer is going to my correct home page.

edit to say that even though I.E. is going to my correct homepage it still is coming up with redirected search results

i just erased firefox and i am going to try a different browser and see what happens.

thanks for the link elevatedone
i have not seen that one yet so i will give it a try.

why are so many different filters needed ? it seems each filter program picks up things the others don't.

i wonder why there is not one program that does it all ? i am am kinda mad that i am paying for Embarq security and it doesn't even protect my computer from viruses.

i have downloaded a new browser flock.com...

... and i really like it so far, it seems to be the same platform as Firefox.

my search results are normal in this new browser but i am still having the same trouble in Internet Explorer.

i am hoping the problem doesn't infect my new browser ??

so i am still looking for a way to dis- infect I.E.

I never liked download.com since they told my ex-wife they don't check their downloads for viruses or spyware.

I find that completely unprofessional.

I have used www.majorgeeks.com since then. They check and test all their downloads before allowing them to go to their website.

Plus they also have a forum you can ask for help at.

I prefer www.whatthetech.com for spyware/virus issues I may not know about. They are very helpful and professional.
