Up to 30,000 UK ground troops are being sent to the Gulf in preparation for possible action against Iraq, Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon has told MPs.
The defence secretary detailed the deployment which will include 120 Challenger tanks and 150 Warrior armoured personnel carriers during a statement in the Commons.

UK troops in the Gulf

Royal Navy Task Group has set sail

Personnel include Royal Marines from 3 Commando Brigade

Headquarters 1 (UK) Armoured Division

Support from the Desert Rats

16 Air Assault Brigade

102 Logistics Brigade

Up to 30,000 members of the UK forces will be deployed

120 Challenger tanks

150 Warrior armoured personnel carriers.

JB, ignoring MT69s wonderfully informative comments, this surely signals Blair and Bushs intent more fully than the americans deployment. Although they have commited up to 125,000 troops as the article says this is 1/4 of our army which signifies something will happen in the arena of operations out there. Posting just over a quarter of your army is much much more than a diplomatic statement.

MT69 please forgive if I have once again mistaken one of your wonderfully informed comments for sarcasm
