I have some elderly relatives who said to me at Thanksgiving: "Bombeni, what is this 2012 thing I hear mentioned now and again on tv?"

I only know the bare essentials, that it is the end of the Mayan calendar and that all the planets are supposed to align on that day for the first time in a million years or something, and that some say it is the end of the world. They asked me if I could find them some reading material and I have googled it but all I find are a bunch of sites that interject personal viewpoints; does anyone know of a good site that is just explanatory, that doesn't have a bunch of scary warnings and personal predictions?

The basic engine that drives the galaxy, the galatic gravitional disk, is also the engine that drives the 2012 phenomenon. The 2012 phenomenon is the 7 year passage of our solar system accross the galatic horizion. This event happens every 13000 years. The last time we crossed the horizion is about 10500 bce where there is a blackout in human history. That's the part where history becomes mythology.

This passage however will be "the end of the world". The "World" doesn't refer to the planet nor mankind. As a world map isn't the geography of the planet but the way mankind has cut the land into kingdoms and nations, the "end of the world" is the end of the civil systems of mankind.

This passage is the "end of the world" because of several side phenomenon to happen at and around the same time of the passage rushed because of the extra gravitional force of the passage. Such includeds the geographical and magnetic pole shifts associated with the unforseenly great solar maximum cycle. All this stress also brings about nuclear war with bio and chemical elements.

Well thanks for that summary Incarnated, but I don't think it's going to help the old folks much, you see they don't just don't understand all this newfangled business. They are just now beginning to realize that when you say something is cool, you don't mean temperature-wise.

Basically if we extract the nonsense and pseudo science,its a way for con men to make money from gullable folks.Nothing that we know about will be different in 2012 than it is every year at the solstice.

the 2012 date is nothing new. It's been popularized for many decades. There's jewelery from the 50-70's popularizing the mayan calendar. The calendar is the most accuratly known tracking device of the cosmos.

The mayan calendar does filp over. It "resets". However it's the events that are suposed to happen at the resetting that make some conserned.

back in the 60s the mayan calendar was big, but back then there were alot of prophetic statements about the future. Only as we've drawn closer to the 2012 point have many of those prophecies started to align. Even more intresting is that science has made some breakthroughs suporting events in prophecy that were before thought to be sciencefiction.

I know hand fulls of prophetic statements pointing toward the 2012 phenomenon but I only need 3 to point out the reality behind the event.

First you have the mayan calendar that acts as more a pointer in time. It by the way isn't the only pointer. Then you ad to that Nostradamus's statements such as "shortly after the great millinum" and the finding of the "Lost Book" foretold by Nostradams that also points at the celestual alignment. Thirdly we ad in chance. Malacy was a man that lived 800 years ago. He was given a prophecy of 111 numbered popes until the events spoken about in the book of revelation. That list, of 111 men, could float. It could be such a list exaused itself within a couple hunderd years of being delivered, or the list could have gone into the future a couple hundred years, but isn't it just a little odd that the 111th pope was elected in time for the 2012 phenomenon?

There is no real planetary alignment. The "aligenment" is with the earth on a winter's solstis through the sun facing the center of our galaxy.

Yes i mean folks that do all the tours,lectures,books talk about aligning with galactic centers for a few bucks...not knowing anything about mayan culture,or science...combining two different cultures together sumerians and mayans with their nibiru crap created in sitchins head...i could go on and on...there are always conmen waiting around the corner to exploit stuff though,so i guess i shouldnt be surprised.
