This is what I would like to see.
Quebec get their wish to separate.Alberta get their wish and separate or have independance.
Quebec and Alberta only want to be able to call their own shots and use thier products and take care of their own.
I think they are sick of the feds and want to be able to do what they want and I agree with that.I think a little bit of a shake up would be a good
thing.
Ok be easy on me.LOL

Um, just for those of you who seem to be confused the Governor General is ceremonially the representative of the British Crown, yes. However, she was
appointed by the PRIME MINISTER of Canada. Not the British Crown.
What a douche-bag move Harper made as well. No confidence vote? No problem I'll just shut down parliament. An even bigger dick-move than the
opposition forming a coalition.

Yes, the Queen is winning the battle for one world government.
Governor General Michaelle Jean -- the representative of Queen Elizabeth, Canada's head of state -- agreed to Harper's request to shut down
Parliament until Jan 26. Parliament was reconvened just weeks ago after the Oct. 14 election.

We need to get rid of all Kings and Queens of the earth.
They serve only the purpose of control and enslavement.

This whole debacle, on both sides of the fence, makes me question the merits of our parliamentary system. I supported the coalition from the
beginning, and still do to some degree, though I think including the Bloc, although necessary, was a rather unwise decision. Like most red-blooded
Canadians, I vehemently oppose the Quebec separatists.
I'm no fan of Harper, and I make no bones about it, although I don't necessarily think he's a Prime Minister without merits. Even Mulroney had his
up-sides.
But the other day in Parliament, the Cons were throwing around words like 'treason' and 'sedition', not to mention the dreaded 'socialist.' The
mindless rhetoric nearly turned my stomach, and it really only appeals to the folks who follow that particularly disgusting brand of Western Canadian
"Giddy-Up" Conservatism. Canada's version of the Bush voters, but even more clueless.
I'd like to see some real reform once this whole mess is settled out, but our Members of Parliament probably won't hear of it. What Canada needs is
a strong, intelligent ELECTED OFFICIAL, not some party appointee heading a dead-end minority government.

No, it's just goes to show how outdated and archaic our parliamentary system is. This is the 21st century, and I've never met a British person, let
alone the bloody Queen of England.
Things haven't changed much politically since the 19th century, it's time for a real shake up

Quebec leaving would, frankly, be no huge loss. Sorry, Quebeckers, it's just an opinion I suppose. Honestly - what the hell do I know about Quebec? I
drove through there once, what a horrifying place.
But if Alberta goes, so goes a good chunk of Canada's economy. This country has a lot riding on those tar sands of theirs.
There's not really a strong separatist movement in Alberta right now anyhow, but we'll see whether one rises up once the dust settles from the
current *$&$-storm.
Edit: Just for the record, and for the benefit of any confused Americans, our current GG, Ms. Jean, was appointed by the Prime Minister of Canada to
serve as the monarch's representative in Canada. She doesn't 'control the military' as some have suggested, not in the way you might think at
least.

Actually this WAS true up until this last debacle. Now it is on the rise. Alot of people out here are muttering about it. It is not just Alberta
either. People from Manitoba and Saskatchewan are talking about it.

I wanted to clear up a misconception here.
Queen Elizabeth is the queen of all the commonwealth realms seperately, we are not subject to British rule. When she comes for a visit, she is here
as the Queen of Canada and the GG is the representative of the Canadian royal family.
I like the monarchy and the GG. I call them the dead man's switch on our government and it gives me comfort to know that there is someone with the
power to reign in the children when they get out of hand.
Thus ends today's civic lesson.

If true, it doesn't bode well.
I choose to believe that once this is over with, and our often-mind boggling version of democracy runs its course, things will return to normal -
every Canadian bitching and moaning about the Liberals

er.. no.
Quebec is the second largest contributor to the Canadian economy (+20%) behind Ontario (about 41%, if memory serves) Alberta was sitting down around
13-14% back a few months ago.
As for what they do - ever been on a plane? Snowmobile? Train? Bus? Jet Ski? Odds are pretty good that it came out of Quebec. Aerospace and
transportation, mining of everything, and genetic engineering of goalies for the most part.

We'd get by without them.
I don't know much about Quebec. I'm no fan of Quebec. I accept Quebec as a part of this great country, but beyond that, I try to ignore it.
Excuse my ignorance.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that... I'm from Quebec and I like it here... of course it's not perfect... and our leaders are politicians... crooks...
and most of our population is dumb... but eh, it's everywhere the same...
At least some of us speak more than 1 language, are against the NWO and know what's going on...
I don't really care where you live or where you come from, as long as you love liberty... and sovergnity... what we want as a province, a people and
in a federal system... we want more powers for us and for all the others provinces. We want decentralisation of the federal government.
We don't hate canadians, we just think that being independant would give us more control over our own lives... but eh, if we can achieve it without
secession, it would be better for everyone involved.

What is this idealistic paradise you folks will create once you separate?
How does your average Quebecois have less control over his own life than your average Ontarian? The only glaring difference I can see is the language,
but I've been to Quebec, and every single sign I saw was in French. Everybody I saw/met spoke French. It IS like a country onto itself.

Everything I have found so far points to the Queen appointing the Governor General.
Governor General of Canada
en.wikipedia.org...
I have to say you Canadians are a very strange lot. I see Canadians calling themselves extremely stupid, children, and apparently irresponsible.
That's a very negative view of yourselves.
What exactly makes the British so much better than you to be your failsafe? Why can't you police after yourselves? Why not a Canadian Dead Man's
Switch? Do Canadians not want ultimate responsibility for themselves?
The whole thing just seems bizarre. The Brits are humans just like you. They're not superhuman or perfect. Stop insulting yourselves. Canadians are
good people. You can take responsibility for yourselves.

Sorry to burst your self important bubble, but Michealle Jean is a Canadian.
The Queen isn't our head of state by choice - I'm sure if it were put to a referendum, that would change pretty quickly.
The Queen's role is a mostly symbolic one, much as it is in Britain, though even more so here in Canada.
