im like wtf? are they just complaining for the hell of it or something? the A380 is supposed to be ultra quiet - they designed it that way - and now the crew are complaining

They're probably just attuned to the constant hum of jet engines. You hear about this sort of thing from ships Captains too...they can be fast asleep and if there is even the slightest change in engine pitch then they wake up.
