Holiday Skirmish Sign-Ups

As has been intimated, we are going to try and revive the Holiday Skirmish idea that can be seen halfway down this page.

There were only three that year but I think we can do a few more this year. It wouldn't be a tournament but rather a single round of Challenge Matches that would coincide with each other as far as the start date, which is tentatively scheduled for December 12th (the date may be amended should there be an overwhelming consensus to).

These debates are intended to be light hearted in nature and are really just an excercise in the spirit of the holiday. I had a freaking blast debating The Vagabond a few years ago so I definitely think many here would enjoy the more toned down nature.

That said, this announcement is intended to gauge the interest. I will keep a list that I will add to for those who express interest. As well, it is possible for those of you who so desire to choose your own opponent or we can just do a random pairing.

One more thing for consideration: Depending on what you guys think, we can eliminate the ranking points wager for the Holiday Skirmnishes or keep them. I leave this decision to the majority vote.

Remember...regardless of our competitive spirits, the Holiday Skirmishes are supposed to be fun!!

I'm all over it MS.

I'll wait to see what others want to do in terms of selecting opponents and wagering points. Either way it sounds like a blast though.

Excellent!

I'm in

I'd prefer no points wagered so we can really just have fun with it regardless of how it's going.

And I'm up for random opponent, random topic.

Here! Random, random, 12th okay, would prefer no points.

As long as there are no last minute change-ups that dilutes the Fun Factor, (my raison d'etre) I'm in! I would like to try my hand at a 'speed-bate', the 4 hour kind, if anyone is up for it.

I am good for three days 12/17-12/19, if that is enough time. I don't care about the points one way or the other.

Wait what?
Intrepid debating?
Me thinks someone's looking to get their trophy back, probably feels naked without it.

WHAT??? I don't have a web cam. How did you know?

I'm still recuperating from Decision 2008. Man, what a mind drain that was.

It's great to see some of the veterans come out of the woodwork...

And I have been thinking; we already have two votes for no wagering of points.

Done.

Rather, I think it would be a good idea to offer one point for participation, regardless of the judges ruling (these will be judged).

And by the by, I am not participating so this is a free oppurtunity to gain some ground on some people...

I think the participation point is a good idea.

Especially considering the season and debate themes.

I'm looking for someone in my weight class - welter- who wants to either speed-bate on the days above (12/17-12-19) OR who wants to traditional skirmish w/o time limits (within reason say, 48 or 72 hours).

Takers, or any suggestions for opponents are warmly welcome!

Ok, I'm ready!

Ok, so it's not a "current" picture. Don't worry about it.

Current List Of Participants:

nyk537
Americandingbat
Heike
TheWayISeeIt (conditional)
intrepid
schrodingers dog
budski
GAOTU789
Skyfloating

For the most part, we will do random pairings loosely based on the rankings, though if a preferred matchup is preferred for some accomodations can be made (I think the only confirmed pairing is Schro Dog vs Budski)...
