US masses naval-air-marine might in Arabian Sea opposite India, Pakistan, Iran

Three US aircraft carriers with strike groups, task forces and nuclear submarines have piled up in the waters of the Arabian Sea opposite the shores of India, Pakistan and Iran, and in the Persian Gulf.

DEBKAfile's military sources report that the US began massing this formidable array of floating firepower at the outset of the Islamist terrorist attack on the Indian city of Mumbai last Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Tehran responded typically with a threat of retaliation should the Americans decide to use the Mumbai terrorist attack to hit Iran.

It is more likely, according to our military sources, that the Americans are on the ready in case the rising tensions between India and Pakistan over the New Delhi's charge of Pakistani involvement in the Mumbai atrocity explodes into an armed clash on their border.

Granted this is from Debka so we will see what really pans out. The forces are being meneuvered in that areaq, that part is a fact, but what is the real intention here? Is there a chance that India and Pakistan may really fight? Is the US ready to hit Iran-they seem pretty paranoid about this. Most likely scenario is that nothing will happen-its just another show of force and any time there is a hot spot somewhere, forces should be ready.

The Carriers were there prior to that, you can't just move them that fast into an area. I am sure they are prepared for any contingency. Nothing to see here. We have had an increased naval presence for some time in that region of the world.

I have a feeling that Pakistan and India will probably not fight, but the terror camps in Pakistani Kashmir may be hit in the future. That could change though if there is another terror attack in the immediate future.

Iran is always paranoid, but I would not be surprised to seem some limited air strikes before the end of the current administration.

There are carriers normally in that area, they are floating insurance policies for our national interests. So it may be nothing more than them being there just in case we need them.
