UFO enthusiasts are pressing Barack Obama to release classified documents about sightings of alien spacecraft, encouraged by support from within the President-Elect's own White House team. Desperate to see the US emulate the British Government and disclose reported "contact" with UFOs, the enthusiasts have written to Mr Obama to ask that his administration comes clean about the contents of America's "X-Files".

They believe they have good prospects of success after public statements of support from both John Podesta, who is running Mr Obama's White House transition team, and Bill Richardson, the Governor of New Mexico - a UFO sighting hotspot - who is expected to secure a cabinet post.

In the letter to Mr Obama, the Extraterrestrial Phenomenon Political Action Committee calls on the President-Elect to "end the six-decade truth embargo regarding an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race".

The group wants the incoming president to insist on a "full briefing from your military services and intelligence agencies regarding what they know" and to open congressional hearings "to take testimony from scores of government witnesses who have already come forward with extraordinary evidence and are prepared to testify under oath."

Something that strikes me is that I never knew about Richardson and Podestas interests/beliefs. When Kuchinich said he thought he saw a UFO once, and didn't know if it was aliens/gov tech/etc, everyone mocked him, but these guys never seem to get mocked about it.

Petition requests:

If you are told you do not have the proper clearance for this information, replace that person with someone who has read the Constitution.

2 Press for open and comprehensive congressional hearings to take testimony from scores of government witnesses who have already come forward with extraordinary evidence and are prepared to testify under oath.

3 Formally acknowledge the extraterrestrial presence and finally end the truth embargo after 61 years.

4 Make available for open development technologies which have been secretly studied and reverse engineered for decades with unlimited black budget funding. The President-Elect will be inheriting a financial crisis, two wars, an ascendant-and-agressive Russia, an Iran rattling a nuclear-sabre, and showdown between two nuclear armed rivals who happen to be US allies. Doubtless he is under a great deal of stress. This should make for a good chuckle and a welcome relief.

This is good news. I hope the USA follows in the steps of the UK in the start of disclosure. All of those witnesses in the Disclosure Project need to be heard.

Good. Maybe there's some secret tech being hidden.... probably saved in case of another World War. It would probably do us more good to have this technology now than to save it for a war. This is under the assumption that some of these craft are our own with amazing technologies though (or technology reverse engineered from aliens). It could be possible that we barely have a clue though. But really.... it's worth looking into this stuff. It could be important to our future.

I'm a bit confused. What exactly did the UK disclose? Only thing they released was files on sightings. There was no "disclosure."

But we need to get those letters out today!

Maybe not but there are some quite good reasons to beleive that many of America's most influential news organizations maintain close ties to the U.S. intelligence community and have willingly suppressed full and accurate news coverage of extraterrestrial related phenomena for a variety of "national-security" reasons.

The news that we are not alone in the universe (or even on this planet) would surely have to be the most startling revelation in the history of our species. It most definitely does "really matter", irrespective of where you as an individual rank it as compared to curing societies ills.
