If we are going to fall like other great empires before us then so be it. I feel that we have had one hell of a ride.
It is this empire building you mention that has indeed ushered in the changes you also speak of. The United States of America was never supposed to
be an empire, but rather a confederation of states, that came together in order to build a stronger defense against tyranny. Empires by nature are
tyrannical, and this is why empires are antithetical to self government which was the ideal by which The Articles of Confederation, and even the more
centralized federal government created by The Constitution for the United States was founded upon.
Dismissing The Bill of Rights as a bill of goods plays right into the hands of empire builders, for that is all they want, for people to believe that
freedom and inalienable rights are just a silly ideal and not valid in a practical world, and by they, I don't mean that mysterious acronymistic
TPTB, but I mean those tax feeders who have infiltrated so much of the bureaucracies that infest this nation, believing they are fully entitled to our
money for their survival, while telling us what we can and can not do and then smugly reminding us how much we need them. These people, these tax
supported leeches, love to see it when someone dismisses the Bill of Rights as a bill of goods. That Bill of Rights, as they would have us believe,
is a grant of privileges from government to us, but anyone who bothers to read the language of The Bill of Rights knows full well that those
Amendments are prohibitions on governments and not any grant of rights.
What made The United States of America great? Not a damn thing, as the United States has never been anything more than an ideal, but when that ideal
is lived up to, great people have been able to flourish and prosper, and because of their greatness others were inspired to greatness as well, and
even those not so inspired, were able to ride on the backs of giants, and enjoy the convenience of greatness. No government has ever achieved the
greatness that one individual can, when left alone to accomplish the goals they set forth. There never would have been any space race if the Wright
Brothers were told that only the government has the authority to develop air crafts, and the eventual move out into the universe won't happen as long
as we foolishly rely upon governments to make that happen.
If people relied upon governments for light during the night, we would still be burning the midnight oil in reality rather than metaphorically. If
people relied upon governments for vehicles that went faster than horses, we would still be riding horses, and buggy's, and of course, where there
never was any DHB, (Department of Horse and Buggy), we now suffer the indignities of a DMV, allowing that bloated bureaucracy to smugly tell us that
driving is a privilege and not a right, and expecting our hard earned money in order to pay their salaries so they can smugly tell us what our rights
aren't.
If people relied upon governments to grant them rights we would not have any rights, but merely privileges that would be revoked on a moments notice
based upon the whims of madness. When people rely upon governments in order to exist, existence is futile, and all will be assimilated. Resistance
not just futile, but clearly since the people relied upon their government, resistance is moot. When people accept the role of beast of burden, and
allow the scorpion of government to ride on their backs, it is just a matter of time before that scorpion will sting.
When people understand that it is government that is instituted to be the beast of burden, and We the People who ride on their back, then and only
then, will the People learn how to reign in an out of control beast. Prudent men use donkeys to carry their tools, fools carry donkeys and in order
to do so sacrifice their tools. It is ludicrous to allow donkeys to build empires, and the uniqueness of the American Dream was that all people are
sovereign and that the power of government is least corruptible when it is spread evenly amongst the people, and that the greatness of any nation is
defined by the amount of greatness in individuals. If empires must be built, let them be built by individuals alone and without any government
assistance, as surely whatever empire gets built in this manner could only extend as far as that individual and their posterity.
If we must fall as a nation, then we will fall because we abdicated our own personal power and surrendered to a confederacy of dunces navigating a
ship of fools.
