Apparently, a similar attack occurred two years ago - which India blamed on Pakistan.

EU delegation are in Mumbai on trade talks.

I don't mean that we can't share ideas about who is responsible. I mean we need not get into justifications and bickering over their actions. That leads off topic into politics and what have you.

I'm reasonable.

ATS chief killed, commandos brought in to control situation

A HUGE EXPLOSION took place on the top dome of the Taj hotel which was engulfed in fire, while gunshots were heard around 1.24 am. Explosions were also heard at the Oberoi hotel in South Mumbai, where terrorists are reported to have truck, but the reports are still unconfirmed.

Latest report said that Anti-terrorist Squad chief Hemant Karkare, who was injured in the attack is said to be no more. Mumbai’s top encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar is also reported to have been killed at the Taj hotel during the attack.

Sources said that this is a meticulous and planned attack in which terrorists brazenly shot at people as well as the policemen, who were chased by the terrorists.

Almost certainly seems like military.... They killed police, security, hijacked vehicles.

Ok, cool. I thought you were saying to only talk about what was going on on the ground. I was bummed for a second.

I can see why you think that, for seome reason the top quotation mark was cut off. I was quoting the author: they see ALL.

I went on to say that innocent people are dying. I did not agree with his post.

Hello. Wow a lot of crazy stuff being said here. Firstly, the guy who said" I really like how India is tryna make itself look as a 'victim' of islamic terrorism when India itself:

-has killed thousands of muslims indiscriminately in kashmir and still is.

-Indian politicians supported the extremist hindus to kill thousands of muslims in Gujrat and still is in other regions.

-India continues to destroy Muslim mosques in order to fullfill demands of extremist hindus to convert them into animal worshipping temples."

is a complete tool. That is an incredibly one sided view.

Im on ATS often but dont usually post, but since this about my home I will.
Im not there right now but my parents and friends are. The numbers in for the people dead might have been much higher if the attacks took place earlier. the attacks took place i think 9 30 onwards in the night(or later not too sure), not too many people travel that late on the trains(the train station being a major target). The 3 hotels mentioned are really only 2 hotels( the trident and the oberoi practically being one hotel, they are both connected, owned by the same people, sharing restaurants etc..).
Also someone mentioned the possibility of foreigners being killed at Chowpatty beach, not likely, since not too many foreigners go there especially that late. Also the reason i think the terrorist would have asked for Americans and British people would be for more weightage during hostage negotiations. Also though, it does seem that they are looking for foreign casualties as one of the places attacked, Leopold Cafe is usually where a lot of foreign nationals usually eat, and hang out in the general area. I personally dont think that the proximity to Thanksgiving is much to worry about, I dont think the terrorists would have had that in mind. Most of these attacks are in close proximity of each other.
As for a false flag operation Im not too sure about, I think it could be one but not on the scale of politics.f NWO type stuff, maybe more about indian internal politics.
As for shutting the city down, its not too likely. There have been a few terrorist attacks in past decade on the city, one very recently where trains were specifically targeted, but the people were on their way to work the next day, using the trains public transport etc..

That's awesome that you choose a bouncing laughing head and ask why people are saying these attacks are bad as people are dead.

You're talking to me. I was laughing at the funny remark, not the incident. For the record, I am simply endorsing thinking and I am fully saddened by this event. Okay?

Gordon Brown is quoted as saying "Outrageous Mumbai attacks will be met with VIGOROUS RESPONSE" - Sky News.

Also Indian news is reporting that it's over 80 dead and more than 250 injured.

Being former military myself, I like to think I can spot a military operation when I see it.

Without a doubt this is military. And not just any military. This is an elite force. This is a MOUT attack par excellence. The planning that MUST HAVE gone into this attack is unphathomable. Comandos are being sent in to combat other comandos.

. Seriously, though, why are we all merely condemning these terrorists? We don't even know why they are doing this. I hate it when people fail to analyze situations thoroughly and simply blame guilty parties.

Please give me a plausible justification for arbitrarily seeking out Americans and British people to execute? To bomb and destroy hotels and banks?

Perhaps they didn't care for the $8.00 charge for a bank check?

This is quite the MOUT operation. Wondering who did the training. Lets hope cooler heads prevail and no button pushing goes on.

I'll give you a possible reason, but you may not like it. Remember when Bush made his little gaffe about following the "terrorists" into Afghanistan and starting a "Holy War"...

Same reason why innocent civilians are ALWAYS targetted in war. To reduce the morale of your enemy and make them morely likely to fold to your demands.

Good Lord!

Is Gordon planning to reintroducing the Indian East Company? "Vigorous response"? I doubt the Indian population will welcome the British army back

Sky News now. Interview on the phone with a British Eyewitness.

Apparently the AFP state that the Decan Muhajadim (sp?) claim responsibility. I'm assuming this was mentioned up top.

They attacked seven places in Mumbai including 2 Luxury Hotels and a Train Station.

Are you mad? This was clearly done by a few saudis with boxcutters...

I argee, this seems a coordinated well thought of attack designed to inflict mass casualties against foreign citizens, specifically American and English. While we could just stay there and blame it on the Indians, I personally have the feeling this is another elitist attempt to seed division between the people, because they want economic globalism but with a fractured, isolated populace. Getting nations to hate each other while trading with each other can only really be done with this fiction called terrorism.
