A HUGE EXPLOSION took place on the top dome of the Taj hotel which was engulfed in fire, while gunshots were heard around 1.24 am. Explosions were also heard at the Oberoi hotel in South Mumbai, where terrorists are reported to have truck, but the reports are still unconfirmed.
Latest report said that Anti-terrorist Squad chief Hemant Karkare, who was injured in the attack is said to be no more. Mumbai’s top encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar is also reported to have been killed at the Taj hotel during the attack.
Sources said that this is a meticulous and planned attack in which terrorists brazenly shot at people as well as the policemen, who were chased by the terrorists.
The Indian Mujahideen, which has claimed responsibility for the Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Jaipur blasts killing at least 130 people in a span of four months, has now threatened to carry out attacks in Mumbai, report Agencies.
