Hey all.

Today I was looking out of my window, in Wellingborough Northamptonshire England, at a very bright star, and I was wondering if perhaps it could be a planet, as it was getting dusk, and it was very bright and the only star in the sky. I also noticed it didn't twinkle, which I thought was odd.

Anyway, as I was looking at the star, a black, oddly shaped object started gliding over my house. I really couldn't tell how high it was, although it looked to be quite small and fairly low, it may well have been a lot higher and bigger, I just really couldn't tell.

What I did notice was an aeroplane flying much higher in the sky, so it was definitely much lower than that.

As I said it was a very odd shape, sort of boomerang shape, and seemed to be rotating, as it rotated I did see what seemed to be a light on the back of it. A very small light.

At first I thought it was a balloon, and it still could well be, but two things confuse me about it. The light I mentioned only appeared each time it rotated and in the same place each time. I'd have thought that if it was a reflection that I'd see the light all the time as it kept turning, but I didn't, it was in the same place each time.

The other odd thing about this, is that although not travelling all that fast, it was still moving very quickly. The wind here today is hardly noticeable. The trees etc around me aren't really blowing in the wind much, but it only took this thing probably 15 seconds from flying over my house to being a dot a long way away until I couldn't see it any more.

As I said, I only had about 15 seconds, but I did grab my phone and take a snap shot. By the time I had grabbed my phone it was quite far away, but I could still see it when I took the picture, although I couldn't see it on the camera viewfinder.

As soon as I couldn't see the object any more I uploaded the picture from my phone onto my computer, but it seems it didn't capture the object. I can't see it on the picture even when I zoom in.

My phone is a cheap Samsung one, and only has a 1.3 megapixel camera, the light wasn't great either.

Although I still hold a tiny shred of hope that some image expert may be able to sharpen the picture enough to maybe get something out of it?

I know it's doubtful, but it's maybe worth a shot, I don't know.

here's the picture.

img519.imageshack.us...

If there's anything more I can do to help, please let me know.

Thanks to anyone who gives this a shot, and if there's anyone living around Northamptonshire, did you maybe see this? It was travelling roughly South from here.

And out of interested, does anyone know if the star I mentioned is a planet? It's very bright still, with a smaller star north east above it. They're the only two stars I can see in this light (4:50pm GMT)

Thanks again!

I have to say, this is a new one... we have had plenty of people come on here and try to get us to "analyze" small points of light, blurry amorphous blobs, and even a few CGI models. Never (in my recollection) has someone came on here and tried to get us to "pin the tail on the UFO"...

You are giving us a (pretty!) picture of the sky and asking us to "find" an object?!
I appreciate your efforts, and I fear for some replies that might come later so I will try to help you out!

At least circle the area of interest on the picture you would like someone to look. That way a would-be-analyst may have a point of origin. There IS stuff out there, so dont be discouraged.. keep looking!

Well, the object is there, towards the left hand side, near the window frame. To tell the truth I'm not even sure myself. I was just holding on to a small shred of hope that maybe someone could sharpen / brighten the picture enough for the object to stand out and be viewable.

It was clear to the eye when I took the picture, although by then it was quite far away.

I don't know why anyone would post a nasty response here, I'm not trying to claim anything, other than that I saw something that looked odd, took a picture of it, but my phone was too crap to pick it up, and asking if anyone might be able to maybe sharpen it and get something from it - which I know is very doubtful.

heh, worth a try
Also, there's a small chance that someone else may have seen it, as it was definitely an eye catcher.

Thanks!

I just love all these photo hosting sites that want to flood the computer with pop ups and other junk...cant you folks host a simple picture without having to resort to spamware/adware hosting sites????

Sheesh!!!

Cheers!!!!

Care to elaborate? Perhaps provide me with a link for future use?

It's no good telling me not to host a picture on Image Shack without giving me any alternative.

Edit: In fact your post was even more ridiculous than I first realised. Firstly, there's ONE advert on there, which is a small image in the left hand side. I got no pop ups or anything else. Secondly, Adware is something completely different and is a program which you would have had to download to have infected your computer with.

You've probably already infected yourself by downloading naughty pictures, and your browser has now been hijacked and the subsequent pop ups you're receiving are probably a product of that.

Thanks.

hehehe! It was there!! Honest!!

No really it was, as I said, I knew it would be doubtful, and it's annoying that all I had on my was my phone at the time.

I don't want to waste anyone's time here, but whatever it was, I'm still confused about it.

Edit: Just to add, the plane in the picture (barely visible, you can see the vapour trail) is the same plane I was talking about in the OP. So I'm guessing anyone who wants to try sharpening and brightening this picture, then the object should be slightly to the left of it, and closer the the horizon.

Thank you very much Internos! I really appreciate you giving it a go, although sadly I don't think that is it.

I was rushing a lot when taking the picture because the object was moving pretty fast, and I couldn't see it in the camera viewfinder when I took the picture so I sort of held the camera up and shot it at a guess.

I don't think what you've highlighted there is the object, as it was quite a bit smaller than that.

It actually very much reminded me of the video I saw posted on here a while back "UFO spotted over Scotland" I think it was called, I'll have a search for the picture.

because although it didn't look exactly the same, the rotation was very similar. I will have to find that video again.

Thanks once again and sorry I'm not much help.

Is the thing you're looking at above the window in the centre and to the left of the lampost, slightly above the roof top?? I saved it and zoomed right in to it, at normal view it looks like a cloud, zoomed in it doesn't .. to me .. I'd like to see it analized, but unfortunately threads like these are shot down by others wanting harder evidence .... if you had a picture of a spacecraft complete with aliens in the windows the same posters would be shooting you down. Try not to let other posters get to you, ATS is a good place to post, discuss and try find answers, thats all you're doing.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately no, that's not it.

It never got that low in the sky, it kept travelling along until it was such a tiny dot, then I just couldn't see it any more.

Here's the video of the Scottish UFO it reminded me of.

www.livevideo.com...

After looking at this video again, it is remarkably similar, almost too similar. Except the light on this one is much brighter, and it seems more disk shaped than what I saw. The rotation is very similar though, the way it keeps slowly turning, with the small light appearing on each turn.

Whatever it was, it has really confused me, it could be something quite ordinary I guess, but I really can't think of what. I thought about a black bin bag being carried by the wind, but it was too high up for that, and moving very quickly. It also didn't seem to change altitude at all.
