After seeing this thread, www.abovetopsecret.com..., a question popped into my head.

If, or when, scientists develop a method/therapy to extend the life of a human beyond a couple of centuries, who deserves to receive this therapy?

Sure, many people deserve it but how many lives can we realistically prolong before overpopulation becomes too big of a problem? Think back in history. Who would have deserved to live unnaturally long lives and why? For me, it would have been Nikola Tesla for obvious reasons.

I believe that only those of whom contribute to our technological, scientific and medical advancement in profound ways should be granted such a gift. I'm sure there are more......

Just another thought, who would be the person or agency or group that would decide which people receive this? Would it be a government agency? Or maybe a board of people who've already been through the therapy?

Either you populate the world with those children who have already faced illness and come close to death, or those that are rich and/or powerful and would certainly use their time to further destroy the world and it's people around them.
To me, it's a no brainer.
There are those that would value life, and those who would exploit it.

I think the 'selfish' is primarily the aftermath of our social constructs. Just my opinion.

Why not, 100 extra years for everyone, and then bodily death? The selfless will still reap their nirvana

Heck, if some of you guys don't want to live on, I'll take it. I'm here to live. Dying is a stupid reality anyway. The spirit doesn't die anyway, but these bodies sure seem to die off rather quick. Not that it really has to be this way.

We should have the option to transform, not wither and die, if we want a little change in our lives. Who here enjoys hobbling around on a walker? Who likes watching their grandparents and family wither away? I'm willing to guess there weren't very many hands raised.

Give me lifelong youth and abundance! That's how I roll!

I hate the fact that the family pet only lives about 1/5 our lives. Give our pets the same life span as us.

And who says selfless people have to suffer? They should be the ones living the good life. Forget being a "starving" martyr. You can give in abundance without depleting yourself. Life doesn't have to be about suffering. Life is whatever you make of it.

As far as overpopulation, we need to worry more about society as a whole anyway. As it is, many of us are segregated little families that fear communication outside our little circle. I think it's time we embrace the larger family of the entire world. The happiest people in the world are those who are out there with everyone else, and living life. Families are great and all that, but we need to also look at the bigger "family."

Love your wife, love your kids, and family pets, but don't forget to love your neighbors too.

Let there be life!!!!!!!!!!! You don't have to ask me twice.
