Hi all,
I came across quite an interesting idea to balance the tables a few weeks ago, and have been playing around with it in my head ever since. I’d like
to get everyone’s thoughts here because, I know most of us want to see an end to the acute concentration of wealth that divides classes, but are you
willing ao give up the chance of that ever happening to you, and your families?
Firstly, wealth is assigned to the individual, and cannot be passed on through inheritance. Monies, and estates are returned to the wider economic
world, instead of remaining within the family. I’m almost saying that every person starts adult life from the same line, with the same
opportunities.
Secondly, and perhaps more radically; salaries and earnings cannot be accrued or built up. At the end of each month/year/decade/x, the individuals
earnings tick back to zero. If you haven’t spent it, then you didn’t need it. On other words, the built up of wealth is blocked - The middle and
upper classes have much more disposable money, which of course means that, having paid for the cost of living, the rest they can save. Lower classes
simply cannot do this; they are, in effect, trapped within their class type, because they simply do not have the money to live and to save. I’m
trying to level the playing field again.
Obviously these are far from being flawless ideas, and would only really work as a part of a wider cultural revolution; though, it would still be
interesting to hear everyone’s thoughts on this. It’s my first new thread too; my apologies if I’ve done it wrong!
