Well, since a portion of the world (or at least this board) think that the United States is an evil empire set out on world domination, do you feel that they should just become isolationists? I mean that would solve all the problems, if the United States just became isolationists and didnt interact with the world at all. The better question would be should the U.S. just not get involved in the world. Perhaps trade will be the only thing (it would be virtually impossible to eliminate all ties to countries.) Would the "bad" that the United States do outweigh the "good"? We could say screw the U.N. Then again, if we feel threatened by anyone, we can just attack them regardless.

Very fair comment.

Isolationism in the USA has never been good for trhe world and medium term it has always drawn the USA into conflict.

The kind of Isolationism that you suggest is very similar to Imperial China's Isolationism which led to the slow regression of the state(Perhaps Estragon might add something on this)or indeed Japanese Isolationism(1600-1850)which is another good example of one of the most advanced countries in the world becoming backward because of lack of interaction.

America has never been allowed, because of conflict,to wallow too long in isolation and has not felt the negative consequences of it.
