1) Right. That's why I'm doing a lot of my classes at community college. They're the same classes and at the same level so why not?

2) That was kinda mean.

3) Yep. Look even at the primaries and who they selected to get the most time on both sides of the isle.

4) Palin had a lot of issues dealing with ethics and corruption. Plus she left a little tiny town of Wasilla in a huge debt!! Who does that?!

Yeah... I just tend to study a really selective field and I like the location, so... yay for expensive schools!
Hahaha, "Who does that?!"
Pretty much, I don't understand why they chose her. I mean, there are much more competent women out there to be vice president. I think it was because she is young and inexperienced so they made both "teams" equal.

I'd say the same if mccain was elected. The media elects the president, not the people.

I wanted Bob Barr to win the election, but he never will, because the media is controlled by the government and will never let a man who wants there to be less government be elected.

So you're basing education on these stupid character/family question's like who had a pregnant teenage daughter? Hardly a test of education if you ask me.

What are you talking about? I said nothing about sarah palin's daughter. All I said was that I want a libertarian in office.

Star & Flag!

These same issues run rampant in our neighborhood, with our youth of 16-17 year old kids spouting "Go Obama". When I have a conversation with them, they suddenly turn pale, speechless, and feel like an idiot, because swiftly they know how very little (to nothing) they actually know. Ask ANY teenager that says Obama is cool, about ONE thing he has done in his political career. Answer = Blank Stare or "go obama" (idiots)

Try this with the kids. Tell them that they need real important advise on a life changing decision. Ask them if they would trust the rest of their life to a parent or adults advice, or one of their friends. Everyone I've asked has said an adult, because of "life experience" etc. (know where I'm going with this?) Then, ask them who they would trust their Country with. Someone that has no political history, young, never served our Country, etc., or an elder with experience, history, and has fought for our Country.

If you watch close, you may actually experience them having A THOUGHT FOR THEMSELVES!!!

It is our responsibility to educate our kids, our youth, and the blind idiots that were glued to the idiot box and MSM web sites that made Obama out to be God. I hope it's not too late for this Country.

I just forwarded this video to my contact list, and cannot wait for the many documentaries that will follow over the next few years, showing the fraud and corruption of our political election system. Yes, we will also be faced to watch some of our most ignorant citizens in the process. That is all the more reason for YOU to be part of the solution, and help educate everyone you can.

Go Obama! er, home to Indonisia or Kenya, and take your Muslim religion with you too ;-)

Actually, this is a good point to make. If we see ANYTHING related to Muslim religion starting to unfold from him, then we'll know 100% that we're screwed, glued, and tattooed.

Who cares? Our government can and will do whatever regardless of the leader. A government agent can walk up to you and blow your brains out and not be responsible. Our government is run by Nazi's. And also, have a nice day.

the people who are stating their negative opinions about barak,SIMPLY DON'T LIKE OR TRUST HIM. SO AS SOUTHERN GUARDIAN SAID,"GET USED TO IT."
and he did prey on the vote from the poor and uneducated. he lied at every oppurtunity. please don't try to refute that ,it really makes you look uninformed.

...what, by PROMISING people the REAL chance of an education for once???

You bet!!

Furthermore, you really should learn to string a sentence together before you speak of education (or lack of it), and what the consequences mean for society.

He didn't lie at every opportunity. He was the ONLY candidate to outline a detailed manifesto of what he would do in office. That is, of course, as opposed to using surreptitious language to teo into racial hatred, paranoia about terrorism and REALLY prey on people's fears.

If he DID lie, then his opponent, who is at the end of his political (and working) career would NOT get behind him - he'd still be pointing out these so-called lies. Pride is more important to McCain at this point in his life.

McCain has nothing, really, to gain from working with Obama (especially a secure political future since he's at the end of his), so if Obama is that unfit to rule and had lied half as much as you claim, McCain would still be saying it today - and as you well know - he isn't. At all!

I do not like Obama! I think he is going to do great harm to this country and will do even greater harm with the next congress.

Though I do believe that a great majority of those who voted for Obama were ill informed, the same can be said about those who voted for McCain, or those who think Mormons are Aliens, or the Pope is the Anti-Christ. People are stupid. They only believe what the MSM tells them or what their brothers friends aunts nephews third grade teachers parrot told them.

Obama is the next President. I dont like it. I will support him as the President, because he was "Elected".

These polls are garbage, they are always leaning in some way. You can never have a fair poll. No matter what you do, the area you sample, the domographics..... they are gonna be leaning one way or another.

Yeah, he's a moderate alright!

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was the most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal's 27th annual vote ratings. The insurgent presidential candidate shifted further to the left last year in the run-up to the primaries, after ranking as the 16th- and 10th-most-liberal during his first two years in the Senate.

nj.nationaljournal.com...

And conservative politics works? Look at the last eight years. How's that been for most people in the country? Look at where we are now and what's going on with economics here. Get real. Neither is a solution. The only true solution is to get rid of capitalism period. Just ask people in Latin America.

Yeah, sure, let's turn communist or socialist! Just look at Latin America - they're a great success! That's why so many of them end up as illegal immigrants in our country!

...so Obama will turn the U.S.A into a communist, or even socialist state???

Get a life. You do know the world shine's brightly outside your Mom's basement, right???????

well as usual the obama supporters witnessed the perfect campaign. and now that its been confirmed by the communist agenda. what more can one say?
that zog pole was to make the statement that the msm was not interested in issues,but instead,negative and sometimes slanderous reporting.
if it had done it's job,those people would have known the answer to those questions. pinky,you are a prime example
you know we had better get used to this kind of blind following,because these are the ones that will obey when ordered by obama to take your rights,guns,liberties,etc.
this is going to be a nightmare. have you heard one obamatron admit he's done anything wrong,or that he's flip flopped? no , and you wont. these are the people i fear.the irrational ones.
they don't care about the law,they wanna give him a free ride on proving he's qualified under the costitution.
why don't you commiesjust telll us now,what laws will count after Jan20th?

The poll cites a margin of error (E) as: 4.4% or .044

As we have no previous data, use the formula for estimating population proportion (n):

n = ([za/2]2 * 0.25)/ E2

To have a confidence level of 95% which means we have a 5% we're not so confident. (a = 1 - not so confident. In this case .05, which divided by 2 [because the normal distribution curves are measured from center in positive and negative directions], is .025 or a = .975) in the results (looking it up in our z-score tables) we learn that za/2 = 1.96.

So, plugging into our formula we learn that to have a confidence level of 95% in the result of a poll with a margin of error of 4.4%, the minimum number of Obama voters that would have to be interviewed randomly are: 496.07 or 497.

But, the number is bigger: 512; meaning that the confidence level is >95%.

512 = (x2 * .25)/.0442
512 = (x2 * .25/.001936
.991232 = (x2 *.25)
3.964928 = x2
1.991212696 = x

Looking it up in the z-score tables, the confidence interval is about .9767 or 97.67%.

From this perspective we can be 97.67% confident that the poll was conducted in a such a way that it would provide a limited margin of error of 4.4%. The Zogby poll is accurate enough with its 512 random samples of Obama voters. Other poll companies, mathematicians and math departments would destroy Zogby if they didn't do their population proportions correctly -it's in Zogby's best interest to, as it's how they make money. You could criticize the poll questions, which may be biased towards a particular outcome as others in this thread have noted, but the sample size is good.

From an anecdotal perspective, you are validating the gist Zeigler's argument: that people believe what they are told, and if they are not told the whole truth then their opinions are formed from these half-measures. In your case you believed what your civics professor told you without proofs, vice of a math professor (whose job is providing proof) at how to determine the population proportions and sample sizes.

Page 310, Elementary Statistics: 9th Edition by Mario F. Triola: ...the preceding example involved application of [the formula above], the same formula used by Nielsen, Gallup, and other professional pollsters. Many people incorrectly believe that the sample size should be some percentage of the population, but [the formula above] shows that population size is irrelevant.

At the end of the day it is a true assertion that only 2% of Obama voters could answer the questions provided. Whether anything can be implied by a 98% incorrect response rate is an entirely different subject, because the pertinence of the questions could simply be returning noise. Nonetheless, the sample number is good according to what science expects from statistics. Zogby stated this already.

Succinctly, you and your government teacher are wrong about how to estimate a sample. What else did this teacher tell you that formulated your belief system?

Give me a break. I voted for obama and new the answers to each question.

The poll and video were a biased one. I garuntee you I could go out and find people who voted for McCain who dont know the answers to those questions.

It is such an ignorant and arrogant statement to say that all obama supporters are uneducated.

If I were to say that all McCain supporters agree with George bush on everything, endorse torture, enjoy's war and killing, and hates black people does that make it true? NO!

it is a biased and offensive video and poll.

John McCain Lost. Fair and Square. No biased video and no claim that all obama supporters are uneducated will change that. It only hurts your own case.

Anyway, for some reason this is throwing a fit about some of the html and edits, it should read:

n = ([z(sub)a/2(/sub)]^2 * 0.25)/E^2 and there are some x^2 in the previous posts

The election of Barack Obama is clearly a touchy subject amongst all of us. In my point of view he was the right man for the job, and therefor was elected. He did spend a massive amount on advertising, but none of it was the lies and deceit of the McCain campaign.

If this was a discussion about McCain becoming president elect than corruption clearly would have played a part in it. Obama however played a clean game, fought for the majority of America, and was therefor elected by the majority of America.

With that said....

Please try to keep your personal lives out of the discussion. We all want to hear positive input, opinions, facts, statements, quotes, and sources revolving around the election. We all do not want to hear what college you went to and what you do on Saturday evenings.

Thanks for understanding.

While this video only takes into account a dozen or so of the millions of voters who cast their ballots on election day, there is no question that bias exists in spades and that the media does indeed fuel it. Most people I know personally have no idea whatsoever what any of the candidates' voting records are, what ties to lobbyists they might have, who their political appointees are likely to end up being, what those people's backgrounds in business, finance, or law are, or how any of that might have any impact on them. Granted, without the internet finding some of those things out is difficult, but it's not impossible, and the net is ubiquitous enough now that a larger percentage of people should be informed than seems to be the case currently.

While the video is correct in a general sense, the only thing I take issue with is that in my opinion the same factors would have played into a McCain victory or a Clinton victory as well. For instance, the video talks about Obama saying he had visited 57 states and then implies that this was not hyped by the media as a major gaffe, when in fact it was. It's just that the media has an unfortunate and very rapid tendency to move on to the next mistake or sensation (i.e. Palin, Tina Fey, etc.) and people have extremely short attention spans.

Election after election, time and time again, you can see polls show precipitous falls and hopeful bounces in direct response to any candidate's gaffes, jokes, and based on the Palin hysteria, even fashion taste. It isn't just Obama. It's the way - sadly - that media driven politics works in general now. People don't care who someone really is, it seems. They only care about what the image provided by the media tells them, and all candidates utilize this to the greatest extent that they are able.

I didn't vote for Obama (I didn't vote for McCain either,) but I don't think it's quite accurate to suggest that Obama is the sole beneficiary of media manipulation and voter ignorance, because that would be true of any candidate who won... as sad as that is.

Someone going to close this thread? It's a useless hit piece.

Let me go to the polls and ask Republicans the same questions. Just look at the large percentage here on ATS who say things like Obamabots, drinking Obama's Kool Aide, call Obama a Muslim, and accuse him of not being natural born. Here's a few I guarantee most of them will miss:

  1. Who controlled Congress during the time that the housing bubble was created?

  2. What position was Newt Gingrich?

  3. Which candidate is a Muslim? (They'll get this wrong, but it will be consistent with the smear campaign)

  4. Which candidate is a socialist? (Same as above)

  5. Which candidate voted yes for the "bailout"?

    Yes, many people from all political parties are idiots.

    This thread should be closed for being useless and misleading.

It isn't the media's fault entirely, a huge burden rests squarely on the shoulders of our government education system.

When only 1.8 out of 10 people know that Lincoln gave the "Four score" speech, while 6 in 10 know Paula Abdul is a judge on American Idol then there is a SERIOUS problem with these folks voting.

Meaning they will vote for or against whoever the media says/picks for them. I remember being absolutely dumbfounded on election night to see that the Democrats GAINED House and Senate seats DESPITE congressional approval ratings of about 10%. Here is the problem, none of the major media outlets were telling the population what congress's approval rating was, you had to hear it on "alternative" news outlets.

Now, had Bush's approval rating hit the lows of Congress believe you me, it would have been national news.

Good God people if you don't like abortion don't do it but don't take away my right as a woman to make my own reproductive choices.

Obama's position on this was a deal breaker for me, I don't know anyone who wants to take away your "reproductive choices", if you are responsible enough to make your choices before a life is conceived. What ever you are now, you were once a fetus. If someone doesn't want you it is wrong for them to take your life today, or before your birth. Surely even one of the infamous Nazi doctors would be shocked to witness a partial birth abortion. The deliberate taking of a human life is murder.
