What kinda skills do I have?.... well lemme think... off the top of my head I've got ...You know, like nunchuku skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills...

No seriously , I've rated a couple of schools when I was in the Corps , some because of my MOS and some by default because battalion had to fill billets. (JDUB)
Yeah Jungle warfare training is really gonna help me in the Concrete jungle here in Jersey.

I've got enough Beans , Bullets , Band Aids & common sense to get me through most situations. This sounds like a good Idea but I've got a wife and 2 kids to wrangle around should the SHTF and I wouldn't want to have to "babysit" and direct others who didn't have a clue. Personally I'd say my family's chances of survival would decrease if I was part of a larger group. (think about it) So I'd rather go at it alone. If any of you were in my area and needed 3 hots and a cot for a day while you were passing through , I'd gladly oblige... just don't get too comfortable.

I think it will be taken as some sort of offence by your Government and shut down sooner than later because the benefit it poses to the survivors..

I also wonder what all the internet addicts are gonna do when the # hits the fan... do you think people are honestly gonna care if the governments been lying about UFO's for years when theres no power and food and water are the most precious commodity?

So when you're out in the wilderness with no electricity or when wireless transmission is weak how are you going to access this site?

Surely when the "proverbial # hits the fan" Internet would be very, very limited in its accessibility. There would be a lot of people stealing computers also.

I'd suggest a very easy to use UI, with minimal images and download times. Each post would send out critical information, including your current estimated coordinates (there would be a map with lat and long for reference, and you'd click on where you think you are), a time stamp and your name.

It would have to be very minimalistic in its design, and focus on maximizing text on the screen.

Oh, and very, very cool idea. Starred and flagged.

If you really want to do a full website then you need to take a good long hard look at Mambo....Mambo CMS
you'll need to have php on your server and at least 1 sql data base... you can even create secure places for more elite members to meet and greet

Mambo is full of security holes, and so are most content management systems. Many of you think the government is the enemy here, and if that is the case then your just asking for your site to be defaced. A secure website would need to be built from scratch, and even then your still depending on the security of the webserver.

Honestly, there are nutjobs on any site. From here to facebook and ideally it's up to the creators to properly manage and secure the site to ensure the safety of it's users.

Wouldn't this be counter-productive to "the cause" of survivalist-minded individuals? Sure, you may not ever disclose your final destination, but "they" still would have a database of all the soon to be "loose ends".

If your intention is to escape, and you believe the "end times" will somehow be intentional and man made, why would you want "them" to know who you are, before the end times actually happen?

It's irrational, to say the very least.

I like your idea but I really think it would work better on a local level. There are people all over the world here and if martial law were in place or lack of internet/phone service we would need contacts near by. I also don't like public sharing of information but perhaps letting people know your general location and have many local networking groups with a common resource would be good.

Just my thoughts.
