Honestly, I was trying to put across a slightly defensive viewpoint in a friendly way, but you don't need to say something to have your statement
lead to a logical conclusion.

I think you may not have considered the sweeping nature of this statement. I don't even know how you can misconstrue it as anything else, really.
"Gone are the days of being human"? Good grief man, we haven't descended into barbarism, it was just a few cartoons lampooning someone's belief in
their invisible friend and their attitudes thereof.
Frankly if you are going to define yourself by which particular way you believe in your invisible friend, then I think you should need a pretty robust
sense of humour.

tolerating you, they're trying to create a rift between you and them.

–noun
1. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one's own;
freedom from bigotry.
2. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one's own.
It doesn't say that you can't laugh at someone you tolerate. It just means you let them do their own thing. In return, they must let you do your
own thing. And my own thing, is laughing at people who hold Iron-Age belief systems up as fact.
I'm afraid the very concept of tolerance hoists one by their own petard, somewhat, as you must tolerate the intolerant otherwise you aren't tolerant
yourself, and therefore have no moral ground upon which to stand and make judgement.
