ok im going back on my word from my last post as i wanted to add one last piece of information/my opinion

we say on here that the family, the people he was close to, the people in his actual life are the ones who should be held accountable, and not the people in the chatrooms who egged him on

yea i agree, maybe the people in the life of this person could have been more aware

but its the 2000's this isnt the waltons

familys arent tightknit anymore, parents arent the biggest influence on a childs life

the media is
the internet is
things are different today on a level that most people alive right now still dont even realize, the internet has changed society arguably in a way society has never before been changed

now people can live there entire social life online and maybe interact with only a bare minumum amount of people throughout their daily life

more and more we are being forced to be responsible for our actions and our words, yet here online there's no repercussions for anything

im not saying change the laws and become big brother monitoring everything

but im saying make people take more responsibility, think before you speak

too many people not thinking about the effect their words have and just spew garbage from their mouths and keyboards

for all we know its VERY possible that this young man may not even have had a family, yea its not the case in this situation, but what about the next one, or the one before, where the person who had nothing went online for some type of support to have someone hear their cry for help

well people heard the cry

and they just said

ahhahaha do it, get it over with, kill yourself

yea i guess im wrong, i guess thats completly intelligent and the smart/right thing to do

i dont know what must have come over me to think that saying those things could be wrong

i must be just a stupid human being or something, i wish i had the class of all these people who prodded him to kill himself, im envious that i just cant kick this feeling of humanity

after removing myself from the situation to calm down my passion for this topic, and after apologizing in a u2u to the person i insulted with the personal attack from me earlier in this thread

i wanted to just come on here and make a quick point

the topic at hand is about frustration with who should be responsible, and how people online dont have to be responsible for what they say

obviously myself and others disagree on this topic and stance, which should be allowed and accepted as we all believe different things and i had no right to attack someone else for their beliefs

but in a sort of ironic moment i found myself breaking the rules

i went against t and c and made an uncharacteristically derogatory statement against someone and i was reprimanded for that action rightfully so

this is interesting to me because here on ats i can be reprimanded for making a childish derogatory statement against someone, yet on this same site people are saying that people should be able to say anything they want to someone threatening suicide

my question is how can there be such double standards

yes this is a completley different forum here on ats and yes rules and t and c differ here then the forum where this young man killed himself

but how on one hand can people have their posts removed for a opinion of someone (even if their opinion is based on blind passion at the moment)

yet someone can tell someone asking for help to kill themselves faster while laughing at them?

how can one be right but one be wrong?

just my view on things

Lol. I'm kind of touched people actually cared about my comment that I plan to set myself on fire. Gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Well, you claim that people in this hypothetical crowded place would rush to put me out and that I would spend months in a burn unit. And that there would be intense pain. Well, theres solutions to these problems, I could do a massive dose of PCP and smear myself with napalm ensuring that I could overpower anyone trying to put me out and theres very little you can do to put out napalm anyway.

See I would do it as a form of protest like my hero here, this
Buddhist monk from vietnam.

I would protest the fact that my own government sees me as nothing more than a wage slave to generate tax revenue to fund the genocide of middle-eastern people or to bail out their wall street buddies who have run their own businesses into the ground for fun and profit. It's a sick world and I protest. To live, I need to work, If I work I pay taxes, if I pay taxes, evil men will prosper and continue to sow fear, terror and tyranny in the world in the name of freedom and democracy. Theres really no room to maneuver in our system. They have it rigged so no matter how much you hate every move they make in your name, you can never do a damn thing about it. I protest.

Lets just self immolate. burn it all to the ground.

I think Beavis said it best. "FIRE FIRE!!!! ehehehehehehehe"

Is that actually a serious question? I mean truly?

If you honestly don't know the answer I will explain it to you. Each website has their own INDIVIDUAL SET OF RULES or terms and conditions.

Those rules may have some legal considerations (i.e. bans on posting child porn for instance) but 95% of all website rules are based on the pesonal opinions and preferences of the website owners.

This forum bars personal insults, gore links, sexually explicit discussions, links to competing forums, a whole number of things because the website owners want to create a certain environment that attracts a particular demographic and they do not want the site restricted from search engines or by filters.

Other websites allow all of those things, and that is their RIGHT to do so. It has nothing to do with the law or a "universal set of internet posting rules". That is why insults are banned here, yet snipey comments about suicide, insults, sexually explicit material etc... are allowed on other sites.

If the sites under discussion had been moderated properly they would have removed the suicide link simply because if it turns out to be real it could be considered a legal issue. If they HAD removed the links promptly none of this would have turned into such a big issue, but this is not a perfect world and not all sites have enough proper moderation. The bodybuilder forum for instance, that is probably run by a small group of people, they can't be expected to watch the site 24/7 so it is not realistic to expect them to delete every questionable post instantly.

Of course people care. I think you would be suprised how much support is available when people are open to it.

You sound like a highly creative individual. I have faith that you will find many different ways to express your distaste for the system without having to resort to lighting yourself on fire.

If you ever need/want to vent, feel free to U2U me.

*Snip*

Are you kidding? I think that has got to be the most offensive comment that I have read in a long time. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Weird, I just mentioned using PCP on the chainsaw suicide thread (as I can't imagine enduring that sort of pain without it).

And yeah the Bhuddist monk incident came to mind yesterday, I almost made a sarcastic comment about you "not being an enlightened Bhuddist". That is the only successful case of self-immolation that I can recall. I have heard of others, usually politically motivated, but most of those folks survived when someone in the crowd put the fire out.

You are right, if it were carefully planned out it would be possible. Though last time I checked Home Depot didn't carry napalm.
