So successful in pioneering rocketry were they, that immediately after the war tons of material plus hundreds of scientists were siphoned off by the allies -- both east and west.

This has been discussed many times. It is also not known whether they had actually built any working models. There are pictures, but it is hard to know whether anything worked. The biggest problem the Nazi scientists had was working on thousands of different systems instead of perfecting three or four that they already had. That easily cost them the war.
