CIA Shot Down American Missionary Plane, Repeatedly Misled Congress, Report Finds

www.huffingtonpost.com

The CIA repeatedly misled Congress and the Justice Department in their investigations of the 2001 shoot-down of a Peruvian plane carrying U.S. missionaries, according to findings of an internal CIA probe released today by congressional officials.

The agency's inspector general concluded that CIA officers in Peru consistently ignored rules of engagement in connection with the downing of at least 10 aircraft suspected of carrying narcotics over the South American country. Yet, CIA managers covered up the problems and knowingly gave false accounts to government officials investigating whether agency employees committed crimes.

Well, there you have it, more indictments of the CIA in the mainstream news.

I've found at least 3 other sources for this story.

This happened in 2001. Not long ago in the 60's and 70's--proof that the CIA is still corrupt.

Incidents like this should lend a lot of credibility into the allegations that the CIA funded Al Qaeda and is behind many of the Middle East extremism.

I don't know if that really proves corruption, just stupidity. Shouldn't they be focusing on Osama instead of shooting down missionaries.

Shooting down foreign planes without a declaration of war--also known as murder--isn't corrupt?

Lying about that isn't currupt to you?

Withholding that information from Congress an the AMerican people doesn't constitute corruption?

Perhaps English is your second language, because those things are the very definition of corruption.

The CIA shot them down because they thought they were carrying narcotics. Just goes to show your our government hates competition.
